FREE Tron game.... and more ;^)

on Thursday, April, 06, 2006 6:43 PM
Howdy programs !

I know we're all Tron fans around here, but I've often wondered how many people actually *collect* Tron items? If you've never really started a collection due to the cost, well I'm here to inform you that now's the time to get started . Just about everything in the way of vintage Tron items cost less than it did a few years ago. There are several reasons for this IMO, but in the end it's all speculation and opinion.

Take a look at these recent auctions:

Tomy light cycle in a rough box for $15!
MINT Tomy figures for $40 a set!
Two loose cycles with cords for $26
Sealed LaserDisc for less than $5
Possibly the biggest bargain yet....
Sealed VHS for less than $5
This pin was $12.95 just a couple of months ago!
The pitcher had plenty of scratches, but was definitely worth less than $10 shipped
Three years ago this would always bring $30 to $50
There are also a couple of other examples that I can't find the links to at the moment (like the StichTRON pin I won for $7 shipped). The point I'm trying to make with all this is what are you waiting for if you aren't collecting ;^)? You can build a pretty cool collection these days without even having to spend more than $10 at a time. Unless it's an uber-rare item that tronprogram and I are battling for, you could probably pick it up pretty cheap.

If there's anything in particular that you are looking for, feel free to drop me a line. Over the years I've picked up quite a few extras and don't mind trading or selling off extra pieces.

On that note, I'm giving away a boxed Atari 2600 Disc of Tron game for FREE! Just be the FIRST person (Admin's don't count ) to e-mail me and I'll send it out sometime later in the week. I don't know if the game works, haven't set up my Atari in years, but it's FREE as long as it goes to a good home.

Wow - looks like someone's been doing their TRON Collectables homework!

Cool - FREE Atari 2600 TRON game?

I think I'll...

Wait a minute...

Hey!

Just kidding - that's cool.

Actually, I have TWO vintage TRON Atari 2600 games - TRON Deadly Discs and Adventures of TRON.

Deadly Discs is a pretty cool game actually. Adventures of TRON is pretty lame though. I never really cared for that game - not very TRON like at all - just a poorly done rip-off of Donkey Kong with some TRON things in there. Doesn't look very TRON like either.

Well - free TRON game up for grabs! I hope it finds a good new home!

I don't know if I would call it "lame". It doesn't really overly have anything to do with Tron, but the gameplay is OK. My problem with it was that it gets too hard too fast. After only a few levels the objects moving across the screen get too fast for you to dodge. I rarely ever made it more than just a few levels into that game.

Deadly Disks was a much better game though. I will agree with that.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Ok - maybe not lame, but I didn't care for it much, personally. Actually, back in the day, I played it frequently for a while JUST because it was called "TRON". I was always disappointed with it though because it really wasn't very TRON-like. The character seemed to be colored oddly too - as if he was wearing pants and a baseball cap! The game did get pretty fast, but if memory serves, I was pretty good at it. It was all about timing your jumps. I wish they had made a TRON game that had a little more to do with TRON than just the few TRON items in the game itself (recos, tanks, bits, arrows... er, Solar Sailor ).

Boingo_Buzzard Wroteeadly Disks was a much better game though. I will agree with that.

Yeah - that game was cool. I used to pretend I was digitzed in there and had to fight my way through survival against the minions of the MCP. It wasn't a great game, but again - it was called "TRON" and it did have a decent TRON theme to it. The disc action was pretty cool too - being able to recall it when you missed and all. I used to get pissed because the warriors would often fire rapidly when close to you, causing you to loose several health point and turn yellow. It was cool being able to warp to the other side of the arena via the entry ports of the warriors. It made for a good escape rout when you were in a bad fighting position. Yeah - that game got a lot of play out of me - with my cool TRON arcade joystick! Too bad the cool-looking arcade-style joystick didn't last long. Cheap innerds and the up direction stopped working.

Hate to say it josh.exe... but I beat you to it, man... sorry. I just happened to be logged in right when he posted this and emailed him within 5 minutes of his posting. I've been thinking of buying some Atari cartridges because my old ones were taken by my bro's ex-girlfriend, and this will be a good start for me. It will forever remind me of two things I love: Atari and Tron order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Well in the spirit of being a good sport, I'll send a game your way as well Josh . I actually have two or three boxed, but used, Tron 2600 games. Since I was able to purchase two vintage cases of the games, I don't really need these any more and would rather see them go to a good home than back into storage.

Since I've never shared pics of the games in their original shipping cartons, I'll try to post a pic some time soon.

Thanks for the interest everyone and again, feel free to post in the collectibles section or to drop me a line if you ever want to chat about vintage Tron junk .

-Timothy

Yu know what would be really weird though. I had used this place on the net for a couple of things. And it was just for some ods and ends. If you go to www.freecycle.org/ Its where people can recycle things for free. Items from anything and I mean almost anything. I got a couple of odds and ends like that drawing tablet. and some sun microsystems there. Absolutely free. I would if there is someone within my neck of the woods would have something like a tron Arcade machine like what davetron and a couple others have here. Take a look at this places its all across canada and the us and around the world. I just might put the word out for the tron game unit. You never know if it will come up over here. . anyone going to try it out in your area folks?

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Hehe... here's some eye-candy for you 2600 TRON lovers...

I'm working on a TRON themed flashback 2 mod (going slowly - should be finished next month after my vacation).

As part of that I have both 2600 TRON carts in light-up casing that go with my light-up TRON joysticks!

You know - if the TRON games came in packaging like that originally, the carts would have been way cooler than the games themselves!

I'm glad you and Josh.exe both received your games. I know the boxes weren't in great shape, but hopefully the games work. If they don't let me know and I'll see if I have any others.

@jediknight -- Those joysticks and carts are *sick*! I've just got to have a pair . Thanks for sharing....
