If so, isn't it frickin' awesome!
Share some of your experiences here!
So far, I killed a couple (hey, they wouldn't let me have some bread) and decided, "Well, I've killed them, so I'll sit down at their table and eat their food."
Then, deciding to embrace my dark side, I decided to wear the man's clothes and sleep in his bed!
However, during my nap I was interrupted by a mysterious man in black, who gave me the "Blade of Woe", which is a "virgin blade that craves blood" and have been given a task to kill an old man at the (I'm sure Triple A-approved) Inn of Ill Omen.
If I do this, I will be a member of the Dark Brotherhood!
After this, feeling a need to gain some favor with the gods, I joined the fighters' guild and emptied an abandoned mine of its goblin problem!
This game is FRICKIN' HUGE with a world so detailed and large that it's quite staggering!
Some friends of mine have become vampires and one friend was wading in the water when he heard a splash behind him. He looked behind him and there was a body with its limbs hacked off an a note attached.
The note read: "I still love you."
Creepy and awesome!

I got it. Tried playing it, but I getting a whopping 2 or 3 frames per second. On 640 x 480 resolution. LOL. Therefore, I don't like it.
Hehe, well ~ I at least 'temporarily' don't like it
You see, my PC bottleneck is my vid card (I have a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra 128MB), and I hear the FX series sucks with regards to DirectX9 games, which Oblivion apparently is. Therefore, as of tomorrow, I will have a brand new video card and I should be good-to-go with this game! Yup, I ordered a new card from newegg.com and it's scheduled to arrive tomorrow!!! I'm so excited. I can't wait to crank the graphics up on this game, AoE3 and stuff. And I'll actually be able to get F.E.A.R. one of these days, too. (I tried FEAR before, but it also ran very poorly... 8 frames per second? heh; so maybe that's a DirectX 9 only game, too...)
I will get an overclocked eVGA GeForce 6800GS, 8X AGP tomorrow. It should hold me over until the end of this year or early next when I re-evaluate my PC situation when Windows Vista and DirectX 10 is out.
I have heard great things about this game, though. I'm glad you're enjoying it! I had Morrowind (ES:III), but I didn't like it very much. I get the feeling from reputible sources that ES:IV-Oblivion is much better.
I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^ |

I just "finished" Morrowind, meaning the main quest. After two and a half months of playing that STRAIGHT, I barely scratched the surface of it. However, I also burnt myself out on it. To jump right into another game just like it right now would just not be possible.
Besides, I am getting Kingdom Hearts II today and will be playing that exclusively.
I do want to try Oblivion at some point. I think my PC can handle it... I dunno. I'm definately not ever getting an x-box 360 so I would HAVE to play it on the PC. Eventually I would like to revisit that world, but it may be a while.

My brother just started playing it a few weeks ago, he says its quite a bit harder than Morrowind.
also the whole game world seems more livley this time around, I think some people complaned that Morrowind felt like a big wax museum.
also, it is quite a beutiful game, according to PC Gamer, the game will look near photorealistic on a bleeding edge system, but the best "bang for the buck rig" is
3 Ghz P4 Prescott or equtiable Athlon 64
1 GB of DDR RAM
Radeon X800 series or GeForce 6800 video card

Ahhhh - THAT'S the "Oblivion" everyone has been searching for!
I've been getting a lot of hits on my website from people searching things like "oblivion video" and "oblivion glitch" and several other simple phrases with "oblivion" in them. They end up on my video On the Cutting Room Floor of Oblivion. I know they're not looking for my video but I've been wondering what the heck they were looking for. It's a game, eh?
Of course, I always could have just searched what they were searching and learned that... like I just did!
Wow - seems like a VERY popular game!
If only my elder computer could handle such a new game, I'd probably give it a go myself... but I don't feel like playing a game at 2 frames per second, which is about all my hardware would probably be capable of.

Todd, it just hit me that you probably are getting INUNDATED with "Oblivion" searches!!!!
I hope all is well with you!
To those who have the PC to handle this beast (or an X-Box 360), you'll love every minute of this game.
It far supercedes Morrowind in every single way...period.

Okay, new video card; graphics look much better now. It seems like an interesting game. I like it so far...
The environments are more interesting than Morrowind, for sure. I'm not a big fan of most every NCP proactively talking to me, but it doesn't bother as much as it did in Morrowind for some reason. It is nice to just walk around and explore, for now. It might get a bit repetitive after a while if it never really changes (no spoilers please), but I'm definitely enjoying the adventure for now...
I can do 1024 x 768 with high settings now that I have the new vid card. There are occasional slowdowns, but it doesn't bother me.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

well, i've got it now, and true to my expectations it is both brilliant,
and very, very slow on my computer. i need some more ram, and a new graphics card, but i have no money, so for now i'll make do with an interactive slideshow
i'm still getting to grips with it, i got arrested for picking something up inside a shop...twice. i didn't even know i had picked anything up untill i got confronted by the imperial watch.

Traahn, I just have to give you a little good natured ribbing here. Aren't you the one that claims that PC gamers "rarely" need to upgrade to play new games? Yet here you have to run out and get a new video card just to play Oblivion.
(From the forum topic called “PS3 delayed until November?” Traahn posted - 3/15/2006 4:42:15 PM)
” I think that's a common misconception you need to constantly upgrade your PC to play games. Once you have a good system, you shouldn't need to upgrade it for years. And new games that come out, you can just bump down the graphics from "highest possible detail possible," down to "medium."”

So... um...
Who's gonna be the first to finish the game, and let me borrow their computer so I can play too?
I seriously need a computer upgrade! This game sounds really cool!

Yep, I figured you'd bust me for that one, Boingo_Buzzard *Traahn got busted* (kinda). Although, I should say my last card did last me for a couple years, hehe. And I still feel it's a common misconception you need to constantly upgrade your PC to play games once you have a nice system. I've had my same mid-tower ATX case since like 1998 and I just upgrade components here and there whenever I need to. Okay, it's more expensive to have and maintain a gaming PC; I concur. But I appreciate the flexibility to do whatever I want with it whenever I want to. Rather than watch Halo 2 or Thief 3 come out for the XBOX and laugh at the cartoony, blurry, stuttery graphics. I playtested Halo 1, and one or two other XBOX games before the XBOX's launch, and wasn't all that impressed by them. Some neat graphics here and there, but my general less-than-impressed observations actually made me cancel my pre-order for one.
Oh well, I still like playing PC games better than console games, for the most part -- I imagine RTS type of games aren't as possible/fun on console, and I've seen 'consolized' versions of PC games that are lame. With HDTV and future consoles, the gap narrows. But for now, I still like keyboard/mouse combo for FPS type games; and appreciate the ability to upgrade my system whenever I want, rather than once every 6 years It's nice to be able to immediately see the rewards of putting $50 or $100 into your PC.
I dunno, I may still get the PS3. There will be some really cool games for it. And there is something to say about the convenience of just plugging a system into your TV, popping a disc in and playing a good game. I have many fond memories of my Nintendo 64, with Goldeneye and Turok and a few other games. Oh, and I guess I did get a bit jaded from my Dreamcast purchase. Those were good learning experiences for me. Don't buy Nintendo unless all you want are kid-oriented games. (More adult-oriented games were very few and far between.) And, well, don't buy any console other than one from Sony or Microsoft. heh

Even as a primary console gamer I will say that the PC has definate advantages:
1) The "console" ability to type in commands to have the game do things, like respawning items or NPC's or whatever.
2) Mod capability. User maps etc. Morrowind was greatly enhanced on the PC this way, making it a much better game than the original.
But like you Traahn, I was "bitten" by wanting to play certain games and dropping HUNDREDS of dollars to upgrade my PC and still not having them run all that great. Granted, that was a while ago and that kind of stuff has dropped in price, but I like not having to worry about what a game will run like on my system (like a couple of people on this thread discovered that Oblivion doesn't play all that great on theirs).

I'd recommend it on the X-Box 360 just because you know you won't have to upgrade anything to play it!
Plus, through X-Box Live, there will be downloadable content including new weapons, spells, armor and quests.
I get the feeling that most people here are Sony backers - that's fine. But people tend to wanna ignore the 360, which is a real shame.
There are some great gaming experiences that are happening RIGHT NOW on the 360: Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter, Dead or Alive 4, Perfect Dark Zero and the game that made the X-Box Live Marketplace EXPLODE - Geometry Wars Evolved (which owns your face)!
But, back to Oblivion. I have found vampires! And I've wasted every single one of them like the scum they are!
I finally became a level 2 Battlemage. It took time, but I'm there!

I have heard that the Xbox 360 version of Oblivion has some problems. and besides, for the same price, you can get the PC collector's eddition on DVD-ROM that comes with a big fold out map and an imperial coin of your very own
and DD, if you're in the market for somewhere to crash/stash your extra loot. there's a shack for sale on the imperial city waterfront

at the moment, i've got a level 4 redguard adventurer [i made my own class, but it's mostly the same as a knight] born under the warrior. i've joined the dark brotherhood, and completed 3 contracts, i've joined a fighter's guild, and i've found a lovely katana that glows bright red with some sort of magical power. that, combined with the dark brotherhood attire, makes my character look like a ninja, i'm proud of that.
picture to come soon...
and i'm saving for a new graphics card and an extra 512MB RAM to give this game the dignity it deserves... words of wisdom from...

DD, Either you level up faster in this game or you've been playing the crap out of it, because I played Morrowind for almost two and a half months and only got to level 20 (and beat the game at that level).
