Personally, I don't see it as a death at all but more like a rejuvination. It's getting some wind put back in to it which it really needs. Yeah. Okay, granted that you aren't a KH fan, but a crap load of people are and they'd be introduced to Tron and then they get curious about it and poof, more Tron fans which also means more stuff for the Tron community which could also mean in the future more Tron stuff. I'm being incredibly optimistic here, but it's all very well in the realm of possiblity.

Well, but the whole POINT of the Kingdom Hearts game was that it was supposed to be a combination of Disney and Sony stuff, that was its whole Schtick. I think we're actually LUCKY to get Tron included in this game, as opposed to it being insulting.
I guess I see where you're coming from though... I'd feel the same way if somehow Tron got associated to Rap "Music" or MTV. At least the game is in the same spirit/genre as Tron.

I've got to agree with Kamui.
What's wrong with Tron being in Kingdom Hearts 2? It'd introduce a new generation to the movie. Heck, because of that, one of my friends actually got Tron 20th anniversary dvd and watched it because of that!
This is a GOOD thing! More fans, more attention to Tron.
And they didn't butcher Tron or anything. A bit limited, maybe, but crappy? No. To me, it felt like Tron with some features of Tron 2.0 (the lightcycle in Kh2 is definitely the super lightcycle!)
Why be negative about the attention? I know I'm being overwhemingly postive about this because hey, for a while, Tron didn't get any attention... then we've got the 20th anniversary dvd, new games, and now Kingdom Hearts 2. Maybe we'll get our sequel with Steven Lisenberger involved.
I'm just rambling and I finally got the magazine. Soooo shiny.

First off... I really have to say sorry that I haven't read everyone's posts as of yet... I'm sort of in a hurry but something sort of came to me when I saw the cover of the mag...
Is is possible that Disney just might be reserving the Tron universe for a project or something much bigger? We have a lot of proof that they don't really want to let go of Tron. They've been still providing Troish pens and a level in this up comming game. Do you think that, perhaps, they just might be waiting for the rest of the world to sort of 'grow-into-Tron' (if you will) and mature a little???
Ok... this thought was posted on impulse and I know tomorrow when I read it, it won't make so much sence to me then.... but still...

All I can say is I think you are taking this way too seriously. I think it's good that TRON affects so many things. Sorry you don't see it the same way.

Well, after wading thru the snow to get to the mailbox and back...
I didn't get the Tron cover  I got the Halloween-themed one.
It's probably just as well. Subscribers to EGM get lovely 'false cover' ads over the actual cover of the magazine. I agree... It helps bring Tron to another set of people and kids that never experienced anything of or from the Tron universe... And because of that, the fan base grows....
well.. thats how I see it... and sorry for be so selfish but I demand to see much more Tron before I grow old and die... It's a must... it's the reason why we are here at the sector, it's what we have dreamed about.... I have a lot of faith in this......

Hey MutoidMan - I feel your pain.
I only skimmed through the latest zillion posts in this thread, but I got the idea you're saddened by TRON being refashioned as it has in this game. And it seems that everyone else is excited about it.
I agree with the points you made. But I don't see this particular action as an attempt to reshape TRON or anything. I'd say they're just using the TRON style and look with the style and look of the game. I can't say for sure, but I don't think they're trying to see if there's a market for Kingdom Hearts TRON. I think they're just seeing if TRON fans dig Kingdom Hearts because there's some TRON in it, and maybe see how people who are not familiar with TRON react to the TRON style in Kingdom Hearts.
Now if they were to start re-doing TRON itself in Kingdom Hearts fashion, well, I'd be sickened by it too. But an homage, or nod to TRON in Kingdom Hearts seems like just that - an homage, and not a reworking or re-stylization.
