Yesterday Dad and I made a trip to Plaza art store in Nashville to pick up a silkscreen for silkscreen printing class, since the school screen I'm using is falling apart. I wandered the isles like a kid in a candy store. Amazing art supplies of everysort and calliaber lined the shelves of the store. I didn't just leave with a silkscreen... nope. I also left with a NEW DRAWING DESK! Christmas came a little early!
This is, or was the old hand-me-down drawing table. Not a bad one, just worn with time. I can still use it, so it's going back home so I can have a place to draw.
Now for the new desk.
*2001 theme music plays* Bum bum bum bum bum bum
Behold it's black reflective splendor!
Got a black fold up drawing desk. It came with a cusioned stool and swivel lamp. Switched the bottom pencile tray to the top and put on a paper tab and added a side tray, which is something I've wanted badely, but never could find at any store near me. Drawing area is much larger and sturdier than the old one. It has a better tilt than the older one too, so I can sit and be actually be over the image being worked on. The black color is just plain sexy! I LOVE THIS DESK! I feel so badass right now.
Now to get to work on some drawing assignments on my new desk! This is so awsome! https://www.flickr.com/photos/blue_bezel/ |

Cool set up Sketch... Looks very nice. I have to ask about that Tron Tank image on the wall. Is that one you made? It has a very nice SD element to it. I'd love to see a nice high resolution image of that. Is there white text in the lower right corner? Must know more...

Speaking of SD, there's a SD Gundam Destroyer Dom figure sitting atop the drawing desk in the photo with it's lighted red eye.
That is a SD or "Phat" style Tank image. You can see it on my site here Carl. There is also some SD lightcycles.
EDIT: Opp.. the one I printed on my wall is a little different Carl. Mainly it doesn't have the green boarder and has a chevron coming out the barrel.

Very very cool work Sketch. That Phat Tank I could almost believe was ray traced. Your work with the light and shadow in that image is great. The SD light cycles are also a perfect match. I'm a big fan of SD stuff but I'm more of a Macross/Mospeada fan then a Gundam fan. Have you ever tought about selling prints?
Looking at your work here:

It looks like you have great designs for a SD recognizer, a SD Sark's carrier, and SD grid bugs too.
All these SD images make me think if a cool design for an SD TRON chess set. I think the chess set idea has been brought up here before.
Red............................Blue
SD Light Cycle............SD Light Cycle....Pawns
Phat Tank..................Phat Tank...........Rook
SD Recognizer...........SD Recignizer......Bishop
SD Grid Bug...............SD Grid Bug.........Knight
SD Sark's Carrier.......SD Solar Sailer....Queen
SD MPC......................SD Dumont..........King
If I remember correctly I've seen an SD Solar Sailer on this site before too. I'm guessing that's another of your's Sketch? Off to see if I can find it.
Have you ever done any 3D work Sketch? Just thinking out loud but I wonder what it would take to make the above Chess set a reality...

The tank was made in Adobe Photoshop, with the outlines and shadow in vector. The Lightcycles are the same way. The spotlight effect really gives a sense of depth and space, especially since the angle the vechiles sit, visually slanted. That's due to the fact they are based on the smaller pixel versions that came before them. It also gives the image a showroom display feel for the vehicles.
I'm not a huge fan of Gundam either, just some of the designs interest me, which is why I have the SD figure. I think he looks neat.
You also might like my SD Max Carl. It's funny, even in SD form, Max is still looks menacing.
I haven't ever done 3D work before. I've been asked that alot by people, especially here on campus when my work is looked at. I think it would be neat to see how some of my work carries over to from 2D to 3D form.
Not sure about prints of images like the tank, since it's a Disney item. Over this Christmas break I hope to try and produce some silkscreen print imagery to sell for some income. Boy, I hope that doesn't fall through. Mabey time will work in my favor this break. I've already had many students interested in having some of my prints I've created so far.

Wow, crazy... I used to have the exact same desk as your old one. (except there was a lamp on the end of that on mine instead of a magnifying glass)
Anyway, awesome secksay new desk ya have there! All organized and stuff, too. Most excellent. And scince I can, I'll comment that those drawings you posted are really cool (Though I think I've seen that Max before, he still looks great). ------------
