I used to have MASSIVE arguments with a frieind about the virtues of Led Zeppelin vs. The Who. He fought for Zep and I touted The Who. Neither could convince the other that they were worthy.
I have never been able to appreciate Zep on any level other than a couple of commercial tunes or remakes of their songs by other artists. I can't get into their songs.
I don't think I have been properly indoctrinated into the Zep experieince.

I see a few people here digging Kraftwerk in this and a couple of other threads.
I've never heard any of their stuff, but becuase many of us here at the sector have generally similar tastes, I'm thinking I should probably seek it out because there's a chance I'll like it.

Kratwerk spawned my love for electronic music, and started a long chain of different favourite artists:
Kraftwerk-->Subatomicglue-->Faithless-->Les Rythmes Digitales-->Mint Royale-->Daft Punk-->Goldfrapp-->Ladytron
the list goes ever on, but at the moment, it's stuck on the Ladytron section.

Well, my first Zep album was in fact Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO) and that's what did the trick for me; it's a great album.
I like The Who too, but I haven't gotten around to buying any of their albums.
I have a lot of music buying to catch up on.
What would you suggest as a good first Who album? "We are, after all, not God." - Cmdr. J. J. Adams "C is for cookie. That's good enough for me." - Cookie Monster "If money is the root of all evil, I'd like to be a bad, bad man." - Huey Lewis & the News

My personal favorite is The Who By Numbers. Underrrated LP, but one of their best in my view.
You can't go wrong starting with Who's Next. Who Are You is excellent, but not a good primer, you need to appreciate what came before to love that album.
For a good overall picture, find the 30 Years of Maximum R&B set on Ebay. They go cheap. Four CDs of their history and a great way to dive in. The Kids Are Alright and Hooligans are also good historical Who starters.
Last but not least, and I am in a minority among Who fans, the Face Dances album is in my opinion one of their best efforts. Very mature music. Not the Rock Gods Who, but the introspective, getting older, but still full of fire Who which I happen to like a lot. The followup, It's hard is also one of my personal faves. DaveTRON

At work I mainly listen to :
The most recent "A State Of Trance" by Armin Van Buuren (Electronic/Trance) It's good music to program by without having to concentrate on words or whatever. You can lose yourself in it, and have it become part of your workflow.
I also listen to video game scores:
1) Xenosaga pt's I and II
2) Jeremy Soule stuff (Giants: Citizen Kabuto and Icewind Dale)
Also a lot of Film Score (Elfman mostly) and whatever I have downloaded recently from the newsgroups
For rock/pop I enjoy:
1) Rush
2) Pink Floyd
3) They Might be Giants
4) Depeche Mode
5) The Cure
And of course..

I LOVE the music behind the songs. The craft is excellent. What ruins it for me is Robert Plant. I HATE his voice. Nails on a chalkboard. DaveTRON

I'm listening to the complete works of Steely Dan.
For my money's worth, that band never made a bad song.
Time Out of Mind, Home at Last and Josie are the three I'm listening to the most on the 4th CD of the set.
Citizen Steely Dan is worth having if you're a fan of the band of the 90s that existed in the 70s!abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Yeah? Wow, for me the band simply would not be the same if they didn't have Plant's voice.
But I know what you mean, there's that song that he did solo... goes something like "I'm in the mood for a melody, I'm in the mood for a melody..." etc. Man I hate that song.

Strangely, "In The Mood" and some of his solo stuff I like a lot.
My wife loves Zep and she plays some stuff that just makes me run from the room.
Weird what we each like and don't like isn't it? Keeps the world interesting!

Right now I'm listening to Grease (Original 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack).
I remember seeing this at the movie theater in the summer of '78 at the age of 7.
Great movie, great soundtrack. Soundtracks really don't get much better than this.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Which inspired me to whip out the Xanadu Soundtrack. The pop stuff on side one is good, but the ELO tracks on side two are some of their best work in my opinion. All Over The World is an excellent song.
Good stuff! DaveTRON

I don't know why but the scene in the car when Danny is trying to pull off his ring and then pops Sandy in the arm for some reason still makes me laugh to this day.

Currently listening to Beelzebubba by The Dead Milkmen.
I think I'll cue up The Misfits by the Misfits next.
