For coolness factor, I'd say Assembly Language. But considering how "english-like" all the commands and prompts were in the movie, it reminds me of PL/I.

Plus the name kind of fits . . . Programming Language I (One) . . . Alan One . . .

Background on PL/I

More likely done in pascl. Since I had worked on a Vax VMS system in the early 90's myse;f. And had the opportunity tro also use the command line in vax as well. So they should be similar.

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

You might find it funny that the company I work for still runs its applications on VMS machines. In fact I am logged in on one right now.

I think we now only sell unix configurations, but we still support VMS.

Thank god we no longer support IBM VM

Well working in VMS was kind of fun to do. The only complaint that I had was with the Video terminals. You couldn't go past the 80 columns on it to see what you had entered into via the editor. But they are still good machines Lind of large but still good machines. Well UNix has become more popular nowadays for basically almost anything you need. From servers to datawarehousing and on machine that will handle it. I still miss using VMS from time to time. I would love to work on it on a aplha machine. Kind of like a desktop but using a RISC based cpu instead.

We use a terminal emulation program which can do all sorts of neat fandangled things. But when I first started here everything was on "dumb" terminals. What a pain.

Those are the ones that I had used over here when I was learning pascal. (Out of habit over here for myself. I called it standard pascal for VMS. I didn't know what else to call it over here. And when I had also learn pascal on the standard PC. It was with Borland Turbo Pascal. ) Yeah we had I think it was either a Green or amber dumb terminals here. But with todays computers Terminal emultors are far better than the good old standard dumb terminals. At least you can switch through several sessions open at the same time. I know when I am at work and I need to access the AIX machine there is a limit to the users accounts to four sessions at any given time. Thank god with Linux you can have at lease 12 sessions open under the cammand line and about 4 desktops under GNOME or KDE environment.
