I think some folks on the Sector might be interested in this show. It's an Internet Radio show you can download every month, about classic gaming. Though the host does talk about newer games, too.
The show each month is pretty long . . . minimum of 2 1/2 hours. And once it was 5 hours!
So you'll probably want to listen to parts of it on the go, if you have a portable MP3 player or can listen to MP3s in your car.
The host talks about all sorts of classic Arcade, Computer, and Console games. Really takes you on a trip down memory lane. But the best part (at least, I think so) is that he speaks his mind. If he thinks something is crap or stupid, he'll say it.
A couple of episodes back he was talking about how "generation gimmie" (the latest generation of teens and kids) have no appreciation of anything from the past. All they care about is what's new . . . current . . . the latest. It made me think of the situation with Tron. Perfect example. Ask any teen or kid what Tron is, and you'll get a blank stare. Or if they do know, they'll say: "Oh that piece of sh** movie? It's old, and looks like crap. Today's graphics are way better."
Basically, on top of game news and interviews with people who were inolved in the early days of the game industry (he's interviewed tons of people who were at Atari back in the 70's and 80's), he does rants on what's wrong with the gaming industry today. And I'm finding I couldn't agree with him more. He hits the nail on the head, every time.
