Why do people talk during movies? I have really never understood that. I have some theories, but probably it's all down to good old fashioned rudeness.

No need to be rude about it though.

Uhm............. Did someone edit this post? I really don't recall typing that in. I thought I had typed something more along the lines of "We can all agree that rude people suck."

Talk about anything here?

Well... it's REALLY hot out today!

Yep. A very hot day here in upstate NY.

Hot, hot HOT!

Really warm. Really, really warm... and hot... and HUMID!

Oh the humidity!

If the heat don't get you, the humidity will!

Hot and humid.

That's what it is here.

Yep.

Um...

But I haven't seen any UFO's. I bet it's too hot for them around these parts. I bet not even an intergalactic air-conditioning unit can survive the kind of sticky, humid, heat we get around here!

Question on editing posts. I accidentally typed over my original post , but I had typed in something to the effect that "We can all agree that rude people suck", meaning that the topic of rude people in movie theaters probably was not something that could spark much conversation because we could all agree on it. So I posted the topic of life on other planets.

I then logged in to find that changed to "No need to be rude about it." making it seem like I was slamming the person who posted before me. Did someone change my post? If so, you changed it to say something I did NOT intend to say at all!

All those things that say "the chances of having a planet like Earth is 95000000000000000000000000000000 to the 65th power to one" are right because out of all the planets in the universe there are probably billions and billions more. Out of all of those planets at least 50 of them must have some life on it. If the universe is so big, why are we alone?

?

Am I missing something? I thought the existance of it has been known for ages now. There's high quality photos of it all over the net. You can even drive out into the Nevada desert and climb a hill and see it.

I think because of all the publicity around it, the government moved their experimental aircraft facility somewhere else, right?

I don't believe all that Papoose Lake, hidden saucer mumbo jumbo that that Bob Lazar dude spouts.

Here's a neat panorama of it:

Didn't Clinton have to grudingly acknowledge the existance of it when the employees sued because they were burning off toxic waste and posioning them. So he had to compensate employees that worked at a supposedly non-existant miltary base.

Sorry about that, Boingo_Buzzard. That was my doing.

I misunderstood the original comment you made and thought that it indirectly referred to a TRON-Sector member with the words "rude people suck".

Here is your original statement before it was edited:

Boingo_Buzzard Wrote:True. It's not very open to discussion that rude people suck. I think we all agree on that. How about something more controversial.....

Do you believe in UFO's and/or life on other planets?

In re-reading your original comment, and taking in your follow up comment...

...it is obvious that I completely misread and misunderstood what you meant, as well as the comment I thought you were responding to. I thought your post was made in response to a prior comment that may have been taken as rude. In short, toning down your response seemed in order - to cool things down before any hard feelings took place. However in doing so, I took a misunderstood comment, and turned it in to something that was not at all its originally intended meaning.

Again - I apologize for that. I completely misunderstood the exchange that was taking place. That was my fault.

I meant well, but I was obviously a null unit!

About UFOs, I think about it like this:

The conditions for life to be able to form on a planet have to be really, really exact. If Earth were a little bit (on a planetary scale) closer to the sun, it would have been too hot for life to form, if it were a little bit farther, it would have been too cold. If Earth didn't have the moon, it would have rotated too fast for life to form, if it didn't have Jupiter, there would be too many asteroid and comet impacts. If the atmospheric composition, the gravity, the magnetic field, the sun's radiation hadn't all been exactly right, life could not exist. And just because life CAN come into existence, does not necessarily mean that it does. And just because life comes into existence does not necessarily mean INTELLIGENT life forms. Sure there are a lot of stars in the universe, so much that I think it's guaranteed that intelligent life is out there, but when trying to match that to UFO lore, there are further constraints.

The intelligent life has to have formed before us, it has to have been able to develop technology (more dificult than you realize, blue whales have much bigger brains than us, but you don't see them driving cars), it has to be able to develop technology at a reasonably fast speed. It also has to have the resources available to use it without running out of fuel and energy, and unless it's a few light years away, it has to develop faster than light travel, of which there are several very good reasons that it might be impossible. And finally, they have to be so near or there technology has to be so advanced, that it'd be economical for them to consider making very frequent expeditions to a planet with a very primitive species. Oh, and despite being able to travel faster than light speed, they can't have developed any stealth technology, not even to the level of one of our stealth bombers. That are they just have a fascination with colored lights.

Boingo_Buzzard Wrote:

I don't believe Lazar either. According to him the saucer's propulsion system pulls everything towards it. Great, that explains everything! Instead of getting a single ship to move faster than light speed, we just have to get the entire universe to move faster than light.

Personally, I believe that in the extremely unlikely event that UFOs are alien spacecraft, their activities here are their equivalent of cow tipping.
