Sound problem with Tron 2

on Friday, May, 27, 2005 2:26 PM
Hi, I just bought the game, installed it and it crashes when I start it. Ive figured it out that its because I dont have a soundcard, only an emulated built in on on the motherboard. If I disable music and sound on the options screen I can play the game alright but with no sound or music.

So is there a way to tell the game not to use DX9 sound and use software sound instead? Ive had this problem with other games and the solution to each was to turn off dxsound in a config filem but I cant find it in Tron 2 anywhere.

Any help would be apreciated.

2 reasons

1) i've never tried to do it because i have never needed to. [why don't you try poking around in the game files?]
2) i think it would be easier to buy a card.

There's a couple of ways to disable hardware sound. The easiest way is to use the Options feature in the game launcher.

I have instructions in my FAQ on how to do it. Click the banner in my signature to visit it.

I solved it.
I tried every configuration of options and autoexec.cfg settings, but the thing that made it work on my computer was to simply turn off music and yet leave sound on!
Why this works I dont know as Direct Sound does both.
Theres no music but all speech and sound effects are still there so theres no problem, and I hate music in game anyway!

You may want to add that to your unoffical FAQ redrain85, just incase other non-soundcard owners come along in future.
