According to my friends at GameStop (and these are store managers, btw, not register lackies), the PS3 will ship next year at $449.99.
Yes - $450 at launch.
No system in history has launched at over $400 and succeeded (3DO, Atari Jaguar and Neo-Geo, anyone?), so I have to say I'm leery of what Sony will do with the system.
But, they are taking reservations I believe, so if you must have one, I'd get on the list NOW. They quit taking X-Box 360 reservations YESTERDAY for the initial launch!

Actually, no.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/24/news_6126410.html
Store people tend to price consoles at high prices until they get final prices. I was going to put off on PSP because all the stores had it priced at 500. I'm not kidding about this. ;_;

I won't pay $500 for a console. MAYBE $300, and that's pushing it because you'll end up dropping $500 when all is said and done.

Yeah, that's totally understandable. I don't like it when the stores do this but they don't exactly have the true final prices either.
They should really post a warning that says "Not true final price yet! Still waiting on information from the company!"
(And I'm sure Sony should be aware that talk of high prices would be discouraging some of their fans. Also, they have to compete with X-Box and Nintendo. High prices would drive others to the two consoles, so I'm sure that they would have to keep it low.)order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

Well, these are the guys who told me that the PSP would come in at $250 - and they were right.
And they are Sony fans, so it's not like they're trying to dissuade pre-orders.
However, to put the Sony philosophy in perspective, I had a friend who attended E3 and other conferences when he worked for Babbages and he was told by Sony's rep at a conference held before the PS2 launch that "You're not gonna get the total systems you expect for launch." This is the same guy that pitched a fit when Babbages had stuff for the X-Box and GameCube pre-orders - the company had to take them down or Sony said they would get NO systems for launch or to sell...period.
Then, he is informed that he would only have THREE systems for launch. Literally - THREE. The store had been promised that they would be able to meet all pre-orders by Sony and then was told, literally, "Tough. You need us, not the other way around." So, for the longest time he only had 5 to 10 units every two weeks to meet PRE-ORDERS. Sony wouldn't let them do many pre-orders for Nintento or Microsoft yet, after all the fuss, they wouldn't even meet their own hype.
A year's worth of pre-orders and THREE systems for launch. They didn't meet all of their pre-orders until 6 months later, in April.
Nintendo and Microsoft met their pre-orders in his store - every one.
Even if it launches at $370, by the time you add memory cards or the non-equipped hard drive, you'll be pushin' over $400 easy.
I think the system looks great and has much promise, but I won't give Sony my money. Not after hearing their "We're better than you" philosophy with regards to the people who actually get consumers to buy their products.
Microsoft and Nintendo have been very good to my friends who work in these stores. They give cool gifts to the managers and always supply their stores with plenty of product. One of my manager friends gave me his super-cool F-Zero GX lantern badge and store rack display! Sony has done well with the PSP in supply, but that's only because it didn't sell as well as predicted, so they have several sitting on their shelves even as I type this. I love the PSP, but I'm not paying over $100 for ANY handheld. I don't care what it does, as I don't play with handhelds enough to justify the price.
Don't hold your breath for this system to launch at less than $350. Which means you'll have at least a year of waiting for a price drop to get it down to $299.99. They really can't launch lower than that because from what I've seen of the specs, they really can't afford to. The processor and technology is pricey stuff and you HAVE to make your money at launch because from there on out you're only lowering the price, so you'll lose it from there on.
As I said, play what you want. I just don't support people who've mistreated my friends. I guess I get too personal. But if you give my friends shoddy products (as I said, only three of my friends have their actual PS2s from launch), treat consumers poorly at launch and cause grief for my friends who work for companies that try to push their product, I have no love for you.
And about that PS2 launch - my friends received so many hateful calls, e-mails and faced many disgruntled customers for half a year, all because Sony couldn't meet their own PRE-DETERMINED launch with product.

I wouldnt complain at all if it sells for $400, thats a whole tech. I admit I'm a bit of a sony fanboy. But really the specs are simple jaw dropping. I understand that concern of the system not being as popular if its priced a little more. But I dont belive that will be too big of deal. They will sell millions of them. I cant wait

I'd just rather spend $400 on a PC versus ANY home console system - whether it's the PS3, X-Box 360 or Nintendo Revolution.
That's almost a monthly house payment for me!

I pay $570 a month for a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom, 3-level house in downtown Charleston, WV.
I have a nice yard, a huge porch that allows for 4 comfy chairs, two tables and my grill!
And my basement is finished and part of it is my Movie Room, which is carpeted from top to bottom.
We even got all of our appliances with the house and the roof is only 7 years old (four when we bought it).
We got a lot of house for a little money! Plus, the beauty of a First Home Buyers' Loan and fixed interest! My payment would actually be LOWER if not for the fact that I had to get flood insurance!order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

That's a pretty good deal that you've got. o_o
My parents weren't a first time owner, though. They lived in another town but had to move here due to my older sister being deaf. (And yeah, it's genetic. ) Kia: Cool. I'm a infamous mythological perfect User.

Holy cow! What a deal! I'm movin' to West Virginia!
I pay a lot more than that... for monthly rent on this tiny little town house the wife and I live in. New York is not (generally) a very cheap place to live though... especially when it comes to taxes.
Why if I were to purchase a PS3 for (just to make the math easy) an even $400.00 - it would cost me $433.00 after taxes! That tax is almost the price of an entire GAME! Grrrrr!order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

The house beside me is up for sale, and it's nearly the same size, Todd!
People make fun of our state, but it's a beautiful state if you love the outdoors and you'll never find a friendlier bunch of people as West Virginians!
As I say, I hope that if any of you find your way in my state that you'll let me know! I'll gladly house you for a weekend stay (or longer if needed)!
I'll have to post pictures of my house on here! And when you see my Movie Room (tm), you'll want my house, too!
I do hope to have some Tron-Sector visitors one day! Keep me in mind if you're travelin' through!

What state is that, Boingo? That's pretty wild to hear!!!!
It's just sad because any time I tell someone I'm from West Virginia, I get the whole "so, did you marry your cousin?" or "Do you wear shoes?" or "Do you like sex better with your Mom or your sister?" or "what's your favorite roadkill to eat?" and the list goes on and on.
I always laugh when people talk about the movie "Deliverence" and tie it to our state because it actually takes place in Georgia. (no, I'm not making fun of folks from Georgia - just stating a fact about that movie)
Sure, there are stereotypes here, but there are the same stereotypes EVERYWHERE!!!!!
It's always folks who live in L.A., NYC, Chicago and other major cities that make fun of me (and all West Virginians) - people who have never been to my state or even met a West Virginian. (And I'm not lumping ALL people in these cities - it's just when I meet people online or in person it seems all of those who are jerks to me tend to be from major cities. I've met many fine, cool people from those cities as well - many right here on this site!)
I promise you I am married to a wonderful woman who was NOT related to me before marriage and my home has not only one INDOOR bathroom, but THREE! I wear all kinds of shoes and don't have a hick accent (most people never guess I'm from West Virginia). Any stereotype I've mentioned does not apply to me!
Oh, and if you see the movie "Wrong Turn" - which is supposed to take place in West Virginia - please know that it was shot in Canada. Our state doesn't look a thing like that! We're not a flat, swampy state!
I hope the rest of you don't have to deal with ridiculous stereotypes from where you live!order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Here in Tucson, Az. That's the plan. We already use recycled effluent for watering golf courses and such, but Tucson keeps growing and our water supply keeps dwindling. We can't keep getting it from the Colorado River (Have any of you seen the level of Lake Mead lately?) and because of droughts, our water table is shrinking.
What else is left? The plans, from what I heard, may be as soon as 2012. The plan is to pump it into the ground to "recharge" the water table. Still amounts to the same thing though
