I specifically choose to do that to the digicons. I thought it added some personality. I was going to make them a dark grey, but colorized they stand out more visually.
Course, the Datawraiths don't have tounges... or mouths... or noses... or any major facial features except those glowing eyes, hence the ascii bubble they use.

Well, the fact of the matter is we're each issued standard TRON-Sector popsicles of the color we glow. It's one of the perks of being members here. 
I get blue popsicles. I like them a lot because not only do they taste really good, I get a really COOL (as in cold AND neat-o) blue tongue from eating them!
Hey - check out MY blue tongue!
Pretty cool, huh?
