I went to this film, ready for a nice two hours filled with comic book fun and mayhem, and came out a little shell shocked. The level of violence in this movie was so far over the top that I was actually a bit shaken up by it.
I was disturbed by the violence in Starship Troopers, but Sin City blows that away 100 fold.
Too bad too, because it *could* have been a good film. The sickening and disturbing level of violence, though, overshadowed it and was all I focused on. Not the art direction, not the acting or the nior quality... just the absolute horridness that was happening before my eyes.
I thought I could handle it, but I guess I couldn't. If you dont like seeing that level of brutality, then I dont reccommend seeing this film.

Well, I LOVED Sin City (my pick for favorite picture of the year)! I was totally enthralled with the film! Every level of it was note-perfect!
With regards to the violence, I saw nothing in it that wasn't in the comics (and Rodriguez has said on many occasions that the comics were literal storyboards for the film). Everything that was in it was never a surprise to me. I knew - especially at the end of That Yellow Bastard - what was in store, so it just didn't disturb me that much.
Now, I will TOTALLY admit that this isn't a film for everyone. It is very brutal - but if you know the source material, there are no surprises.
Which is the highest praise I can give the film - EVERYTHING from those comics was on screen, word for word, image for image.
I can't wait for the extended edition on DVD, as some parts of the storylines had to be removed for pacing's sake. Nothing of extreme violence - mainly character stuff.
Make no mistake - this film is the ULTIMATE comeback for Mickey Rourke! His Marv was so spot-on it was scary! He was a force of nature, which Marv is! He blew me away - especially how they gave him the look of Marv and how his voice was just exactly how Marv always sounded in my head!
I have to say this is the most FAITHFUL and LITERATE comic film ever put to screen. No doubt about it.
It just goes to show you can make a comic and be totally faithful to the source material and make it work!on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

Well, I'm a big fan of Robert Rodriguez, but yikes. I'm with Boingo on this one. And I did know...I did have fair warning on the violence, *smacks forehead* but I just couldn't pass up Robert, and the look of the film was so cool!
Not cool enough for me though. I kinda regret seeing it due to the level of violence.
Visually, Robert did a great job.

I'm with The PimpDragon on this.
This movie kicked ass! It was certainly worth the $9.50 I paid to see it.
I was initially surprized by the tremendous amount of graphic violence and casual nudity, but it was a pleasant surprize. I couldn't believe somebody actually had the guts to make this movie. It's about time somebody made a movie that eschewed the trend towards more family-friendly action movies and made a movie for adults and teenagers old enough to appreciate a good graphic novel.
I say bravo! Excellent job on all levels!
