Carl,
I hope your Dad is OK. I am going through the same thing... sorta (my mom has a brain tumor) so I know how frustrating and exhausting it all can be. Pop me a line some time if you just want to talk or something. I'll be pulling for you and your family.

It's not malignant and is operable. The prognosis is good and she should make a complete recovery. So yeah things are OK.

Thanks great news!! I'll keep her in my prayers as well and I hope all goes well.
I have a little new news. The second set of MRIs have been done and the neurologist has now seen all 4. He's still waiting on the final report of the last two before a plan is put in place but here is what's been said so far.
The spots on my fathers brain MRI are what the neurologist called infarcs. Which by the way I'm having a very hard time finding much info about on-line. Anyone here have a very good medical dictionary? Anyways they are some sort of mini-stroke. They are so small that my father wasn't aware of them and the doctor doesn't even think that's the reason behind his current leg problem. I know my father's father had a lot of mini-strokes before he passed away and now the neurologist is saying my father has had about 30 of these infarcs. Looks like its something I'll have to be on the look out for down the road.
All that said the neurologist has found what he thinks might be the problem. There is a spot in my fathers neck where bone growth has put a kink in the sack that holds the spinal fluid around the spin. The kink is such that it touches the spine itself and though the neurologist has seen worse kinks that didn't cause problems like this he currently thinks that maybe coupled with the infarcs is the reason he can't use his legs. He's considering sending him to Nashville for sergery. The comment was also made that with this type of sergery there would be about a 20% chance you'd see improvement however without the sergery the kink could get worse and cost him the use of his arms or worse.
My father mentally is 100% and he's taking things as well as can be expected. It's actually my mother that's having a very hard time dealing with all this. So please put her on your prayer list too.
Sketch, I see you are in TN. Anywhere in the Clarksville or Paris area? If so you should PM me. Sometime when I'm up there I'd be happy to say "hi" in person. Looks like I'll be in Nashville soon but that probably wouldn't be the best time.

Some good news...
After further reviewing the MRI's the neurologist doesn't think the issue in the neck was bad enough to accout for my dad's loss of mobility in his legs.
Yesterday he called for all 4 of my dad's MRI's to be repeated this time while he had an IV that enhanced the contrast of the MRI image. So after about 2 hours in the MRI machine yesterday they are now quite confident they have found IT. My dad has an inflamation in the spinal cord which they believe was caused by his respiratory infection. How the infection moved from his lungs to his spinal cord is something I don't understand and why the antibiotics aren't fighting that infection too confuses me. Any MDs here? Either way, this is VERY good news. Instead of facing surgery which had a 10% chance of complications and only a 20% chance of mobility recovery, the doctors think they can treat the infection with steroids and they now think he should show marked improvement and even be able to walk again. The steroid treatment will be quite strong and should start today. Again why you fight an infection with steriods is something I don't quite get but everyone's spirts are high. Thanks for all the prayers. They seem to be working.
Also as some of you have probably noticed... www.wwwmwww.com is back up again and my links are once again working. Still waiting on my friend to send me my new user ID and password so I can't post anything new just yet but we're getting there.

Just a couple quick updates. My father underwent a 5 day steroid treatment. He was given a shot every 6 hours for 5 days. He's got some strength back but he's still far from walking. He's also now out of the hospital and is currently at a nursing home / rehabilitation facility. A nurse their made the comment that they'd have him up and walking in 20 days. I just don't know... Back when they first saw the inflamation of the spinal cord the doctors sounded so sure they had found the problem. Toward the end of the treatment they said they were only 80% sure that was the cause of the problem. Before the treatment there was also talk of repeating the MRI after the treatment to verify the inflamation had gone down and not moved further up the spinal cord. However that was never done and at the end they said they didn't expect that another MRI would show them anything as they expected the inflamation to go down much slower. They also never did do the ultrasound on his legs they had talked about and now he's in a place where he'll see his doctor about once a month and he may not see the neurologist again till they let him go home. I just don't feel they are doing all they could do and every time I try to talk to the doctors or my dad about that I feel like I'm fighting with him over it as he doesn't want to be a burden to anyone. Everyone else I guess is content to see where things are after 3 weeks of rehab. If there are any changes I'll be sure to post an update however things don't seem to be changing very fast. Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
On another note... my flyby is done. I'll have it posted before the end of the week. I've got a small snag at the moment. My web site is back up but my username and password currently done work and get that sorted out soon I'm sure.
Till later... I sure wish I had better news to post,
Carl

Best wishes to you and your father, and to BBs mother. I'd like to comment a little. When you get a viral infection, and you have bad body pain, and headache, that is when the infection has spread to your spinal fluid. The lung is very close to the spine, and, spreads material through your body via blood.
I had a problem, where I was in pain so bad with flu symptoms I thought I would die. I couldn't stand, or my brain would feel like it was being smushed into my back. So being a life extensionist, I went to my friend who gets the top alternative meds. from around the world.
He told me to take two norwegian shark liver oil, and inflaprophen (GAIA herbs) on an empty stomach, first thing, and before bed. I took it that night. woke up pain free. in shock, I waited to go to work till the next day, and continued the treatment, which was for no more than 2 weeks, or side effects could occur. So I was at work the next day, pain free. If you would like a consultation, tell him Jadem sent you. George is a wealth of knowledge, and has a radio show here. This is the info.

Just to remind everyone here is the path of my fly-by.
I'm posting it in mng format. Its the same compression format used by png files except you can now use it on videos. It's great because there are no compression artifacts and the file is less then a 10th the size it would be without compression. Still I'm not sure how many of you will be able to see this just yet. Also mng doesn't support audio. So Todd if you see this could you turn it into a nice mpeg or avi that everyone can see and email that to me and I'll upload it on my site as well.
http://www.wwwmwww.com/TRON/Arena.mng
And now that's it's done I already see 2 stupid mistakes. One I'm sure you can't see and the other I doubt anyone will spot. One of the two is a mistake in the model itself and I'll try to fix it soon and point it out. The other was just a stupid typo in the code used to make the animation which I've already fixed but it's not worth re-rendering the whole thing to me. This was just a test. The effort will go to bigger and better things.
After others have a chance to see the animation which probably won't be till the mpeg or avi gets posted I'll point out both mistakes.

I can't do it right away, but I'll try and turn this in to a more user friendly file size...
BTW - How do I open a MNG file? I imagine it's a multi-frame PNG file, but I'm not sure how to decompile the frames.
Can you send me a link to a zip file of the separate frames (as separate files) by chance?

Hmmm... I thought for sure if anyone here could view a mng file you would. Let me see if I can make that zip file. Till then here is a gif everone sould be able to see. I've cut the resolution by about a factor of 4 and the file size by almost a factor of 10.
Carl
P.S. Just uploaded the 427x196 png frames here:

Oh and just so everyone knows why I don't think some of you will ever see the errors that I'm seeing. All the frames of this animation were rendered at 3416x1564 and resampled down to 427x196 to minimize Anti-Aliasing artifacts. If anyone wants the original frames let me know but that would make one VERY big zip file (about 64x as big as the one I just posted).

The little animation looks fantastic! Noticed the looped end doesn't match back up fully with the original starting point, but it still looks great!

Good eye... even if they are tired. That was one of the stupid mistakes I made above and thought people might catch. The spine that defined that path was given by this piece of code:
#declare MySpline = spline {
cubic_spline
-2, , // control point
-1, , // control point
00, , // start
01, ,
02, ,
03, ,
04, ,
05, ,
06, ,
07, ,
08, ,
09, ,
10, ,
11, , // stop
12, , // control point
13, , // control point
}
The first two control points should be the last 2 points of the path and the last 2 control points should be the first 2 points of the path. That's needed to keep everything smooth when the animation loops. However in the last point I had a 25 where I should have had a 75. That little jolt you feel at the looping point was caused by that one digit being off.
