First Rock Album

on Thursday, February, 17, 2005 3:45 PM
Another thread sparked this topic for me.

What were the first real records you owned in your life? What was the first music you personally selected to listen to rather than having someone else choose for you.

My first rock record was Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy by Elton John. My second was Glass Houses by Billy Joel.

Then a frieind played Quadrophenia by The Who for me and I was hooked. I owned every available Who album within a span of weeks. I branched out from ther into The Kinks, Bad Company, Doobie Brothers, Deep Purple, Kiss and many others. Thanks to a favorite uncle of mine, I also learned about the delights of Pink Floyd, Yes, Robin Trower, Mountain, Cream, Creedence and a lot of other great groups.

The first record I ever brought was FLM by Mel & Kim (a UK duo in the 80's for those who don't know) who were quite popular at the time. The 2nd one I brought was the soundtrack for the 1st Ninja Turtles movie.

I think I've still got both of them in the attic somewhere. Oh to be 7 years old again abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I was really into Jazz as a kid. (which is wierd now... I like classic rock, trance and 80's pop) ... go figure.

But most of my records were jazz and not rock, with the exception of Autobahn by Kraftwerk :P

I personally miss records because the size of the disc allowed for some REALLY great cover art. These days, album covers just really aren't very creative

I have all 3 movies on video, and the first one on DVD.

Hmmm...

I think the first rock album I ever bought - which I had on cassette and now have on CD - was the soundtrack to The Lost Boys, and a great soundtrack it is.

Speaking of soundtracks, I was just listening to the Interstate '76 Original Game Soundtrack today. I love driving home from work blasting I '76's funkadelic tracks. I can almost see the dual .50's mounted on the hood of my Picard Piranha. Ahhhh...

After The Lost Boys soundtrack came Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Queen, Led Zepplin, Judas Priest, Hall & Oats, Huey Lewis & The News, Beastie Boys, Blondie, Bon Jovi, The Cars, The Ramones, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, The Bangles, Metallica, Megadeth, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, Men At Work and more.

I don't have all of the CD's I'd like, but I do have a lot of them.

I'm dying to get my hands on AM Gold and the 80's collection from Time-Life, but God only knows how many CD's they have.

"We are, after all, not God." - Cmdr. J. J. Adams
"C is for cookie. That's good enough for me." - Cookie Monster
"If money is the root of all evil, I'd like to be a bad, bad man." - Huey Lewis & the News

Most recent PC game collection update: 04/12/2012. Check it out!

Having worked security for The Lost Boys and running the QA teams for Interstate 76, I feel like we have a connection here!

Kiss - Destroyer. At that time in my life, there was no greater rock n' roll song than "Detroit Rock City." None. Zip. Nada. Zilch.

Urban Chipmunk - Don't even laugh. Alvin and the boys covering "Mama, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys/Chipmunks" was sheer genius! I don't like new country, but old-school, Kenny & Dolly, Waylan & Willie country owns us all.

Run DMC - Raisin' Hell. Who DIDN'T own this album?

Beastie Boys - License to Ill. See above.

Billy Joel's Greatest Hits Volumes 1 & 2 - My favorite artist of all time and some of the greatest hits of all time. 'Nuff said.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

The first rock album I got was Metallica's "Ride The Lightning". It was about 7 years ago, because I wasn't alive when it first came out in 1984. It has always been and will always be my favourite album ever, and Metallica will always be my favourite band.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I'd assume from your moniker that Lemmy and the boys from Motorhead would have that place in your heart, but Metallica is good too! Me, I likes my Motorhead!

I've never heard any Pantera, so I can't comment. What do you recommend as a starting point with them?
