Tried the downloaded version of Tron 2.0

on Tuesday, January, 04, 2005 7:49 AM
Hi Folks.

I just downloaded tron 2.0 on one of my other computers that I have here that fits barely to the minimum of playing it here. and so far it looks great love the light cycle arena there. Just need to add some more memory to the current system that I am oplaying with it on. Running on a PIII 500 with 96 megs of ram and a geforce FX5200 card with 128 megs of ram onboard that baby. I'm going to be trying to get at least 256-512 megs of ram in order to play it better over here. Just that the money is tight right now after the silly season over here. I just installed a 40 gigger drive in that and got it running this past christmas season over here.

And I'll eventually get the full version soon for the gaming machine that I have here soon. If it still available in the stores when I go and get it over here...

Hey Compucore, your video card is fine, but in addition to the extra memory (I recommend Crucial), what you really need to do is upgrade that PIII 500. If your MoBo supports it, I suggest upgrading to a Slot 1 PIII 1GHz.

Intel intended the Slot 1 PIII 1GHz to be a low-end server processor so it never made any effort to publicize the chip. However, at least a couple of MoBo manufacturers released BIOS upgrades that supported the chip on a few consumer motherboards. After flashing the BIOS, my PIII 1GHz has been working fine on my 440BX-based ASUS P3B-F for three or four years now.

I checked on eBay, and you can get a used one with the original heatsink & fan for USD $51.00.
Here's the auction: Slot 1 PIII 1GHz
And if your MoBo doesn't support the Slot 1 PIII 1GHz, I've seen plenty of P3B-F's on eBay, usually not going for much more than USD $30 or $40.

This auction has a P3B-F currently going for CD $15.52: P3B-F
Or how about this one: This auction has a P3B-F, 128MB PC133 RAM and a PIII 600MHz going for USD $20.50: Package Deal
It's not a 1GHz, but 600 is better than 500 and you get a MoBo capable of supporting the 1 GHz PIII and 128MB PC133 RAM to boot. I'm still using PC100 - got a great deal at Crucial.com a few years back on 1GB of PC100 RAM @ USD $21.00 per stick of 256MB - as you may well be, but hey if you haven't bought any memory yet and you get this deal then PC133 is the way to go.

Just wanted to let you know that there are a lot of options on eBay that will enable you to upgrade your PC so that you'll be able to play TRON 2.0 - which is now at USD $20.00 - without breaking the bank.

Happy upgrading!

I'll be taking a look this evening on my motherboard that I am currently using over here with the PIII 500 CPU. If I can upgrade the BIOS that'll make it into a 1 gigger sun of a gun I'll go for it. I am lending a friend of mine the socket 370 CPU over here. I have a couple of socket 370 to slot one conversion adaptors over ehre. to do that. And if I can I'll go that route and upgrade over here. Then I'll see what I can do with memory wise for it. Crucial is a good memory MFR. And I never tried using befoer Memory Expets over here. They are a canadian Company over here that deals with making memory as well. Just that I ned to be a company to buy directlky from them. And they are even closer than going to ebay for buying memory.

I know for sure Microbytes has some still available as well as Megapc over here. for a fairly good price in Canadian funds over here. The motherboard that I have is a Asus P2B with a revision 1012 on it. I'm going to be checking their web site to see if there was any further upgrades in the bios and to see if it still possible to use a PIII 1 gigger in that machine.

:S

After a quick search on Google it looks like if you've got the right PCB revision P2B-F and at least the 1012 BIOS (FYI the latest is 1014.003) you should be able to use a 100MHz FSB 1GHz PIII, so it looks like you may be in luck.

BTW, what brand FX5200 card are you using? I didn't think that any cards after the GF3 could use the old AGP 2X 3.3V slot. If I can upgrade to an FX5200 I'd be ecstatic!

I'll be taking a look into it deeper over here. I haven't found the version number on the motherboard itself over here. I might have to take a look at it when it boots up over here this evening. Since it would show up there as well if it does show up there. I'll be able to still upgrade it over here.

Would be nice to bring it up that far over here. Since it would help in playing the game verynicely over here. Even at 500MHZ its still nice to play over here. Just need to get used to how to play it with the joystick or with the keyboard and mouse over here.

The MoBo revision won't show up when you boot, only the BIOS revision will show up. The MoBo revision should be printed in really small type somewhere on the MoBo itself.

KB & mouse is the only way to go for a FPS, unless you have a SpaceOrb 360 or something similar.

I called BFG Tech and they said that none of their FX5200-based cards would work in a 3.3V AGP slot, so I'm really curious about which company's card you've got.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Well the only thing that I do know of the card is it is a Geoforce FX5200. THere are no other indications on the card itself of which manufacturer has made it. When I had booted the machine up I had seen just before teh BIOS came up was Geforce fx5200. And went to Nvida to get the drivers for it. And that was basically it. The card works fine in my PIII 500 right now. Just that I had looked via Asus downloading program to see what it can detect as for new bios's for the motherboard itself. Ands its the first generation of P2B motherboard. So There is no other letter afterthat as the others have for that same model there.

So my last revision for the bios is 1012 for it. And I don't even know when they went to that one that they made any major changes as for multiplier and the what nots for a faster cpu in there. the only thing I could do is to actuallytest one with a temporary fan and pray that it'll take it or by fiddling around with the multiplie and buss speed for it to reach that high.
