Bye Bye Disney

on Wednesday, December, 29, 2004 10:25 PM
Well folks, it seems Disney and I have come to a parting of the ways. As of today, I am in the ranks of the unemployed.

I am not going to go into any details about it, but let's just say it's a weight off my shoulders and I am happy, even though the route out of there sucks.

So now I am a private citizen and able to speak far more freely about things. Give me a few days to recover, and then if you have any lingering questions, ask away.

Did you get (Trumped) fired?

Did you leave on your own?

Take a long vacation to think but I urge you to not just leave.

Trust me you can still go back!

(repeating a common sentiment here) WOW...

I'm glad you're okay with it, Dave... But that was rather sudden. For us, at least.

Take care.

Rather sudden for me too, but I will be better off in the long run not working there. Thanks everyone.

Wow. Heavy news before new years, but that means next year is completely yours to shape.

Now that you can speak freely: Where is Walt cryogenically frozen?

Yeah, that's a bit of a shocker. Glad to hear you're taking it okay.

On a personal note, the company I work for is going through some change and I'll probably find out in mid-January if I'll still be employed.

Take care. Have a safe and happy New Year!

I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^

Sorry to hear that you have lost it a Disney. We hope that you will find another job soon there dave. At least now you can rest a little bit before you go looking for another one.

Oh man. I'm so sorry to hear that!

If you're financially secure enough, I'd recommend a nice long vacation. Kick back and enjoy some personal *you* time and allow yourself time to regroup before tackling that next professional venture.

With all the experience you've got under your belt, I'm sure you've got a lot to offer potential new employers. It must feel crappier than anything right now, but I bet you do land on your feet and will be better off in the long run.

I've been unemployed before myself. It sucks. After barely scraping by for a time, I ended up with a much better job than I had before. Not only did I enjoy my new job more, I made a lot more money than I had previously. I bet you end up better off too

Hang in there, man. And remember - you've got an entire Sector of friends here to share thoughts with or just rant.

You have my empathy, Dave. Good luck, although I imagine that with your background you won't have too much trouble in the future.

P.S.: You're not off the hook with your weight loss, though. I'm gonna hold you to that.

Come on, you scuzzy data, be in there.

Thank you everyone.

I slept like a baby last night beause for the first time in a long time I have no pressure.

My wife is being very supportive and I have a great sense of relief. We have ZERO debt and money in the bank for a cushion, although we don't want to dig into that.

I've had a couple or realizations since yesterday, things that have been in my head that I didn't want to admit to myself. The biggest one is that this is what I really wanted. I am very happy about everything except not getting any severance. Gotta see about that.

I wasn't fired, at least nobody used those words and I am eligible for unemployment so I am not certain how they are categorizing my termination.

I've been on a "Personal Improvement Plan" for a month where the only one doing any real talking was me. One meeting and one email from my boss in the entire month, HR head silent and non-communicative. My boss misses most of my weekly meetings with him, and it's 'nothing personal'.

This is all part of a plan, I wasn't going to come out of this with my job. I am fairly certain of that.

I have been doing what I do for 14 years and I am bored with it. Gaming isn't getting me as fired up as it used to. Now I can focus on what I want to do.

Jan and I are spending some time this weekend relaxing, seeing a movie or two. We will watch Beauty and the Beast in honor of Jerry Orbach, and go out to finally see National Treasure.

We are also making a chart that shows what our outgo is each month and figure out what we need to make to keep us going and allow us time to build our business.

This is a signal from above that life needs to change, and I plan to meet it 100%. I've been looking forward to a new challenge, and now I have it.
