Never really had to use a tripod myself over hre. I gues I have a steady hand for that. But heck we all hve a talent when it coms to photography there. Mine was one of those you know gun slinging typ of things like Billy the kid or something like that. Well all the dveloping chemicals that are used for the film and in th dark room will always be nasty "Sans Faute" Meaning without fault there. If they wanted to make it smell good I think they would have perfume in it or aftershave lotions one of the two.
Heck start with Musk for men in the developer and in th stop bath L'eau de toilet for ladis at th end. having a flash back of the dark room days. Woah heeeeeyyy. Wooooaahh. Back to normal.
I can relate to that myself as well My kid brother was explaining me that when he was doing photography at the university level there at Concordia University in Montreal. I gave hime some ideas of what I had learnt that he may have misted out when we were both part of the photograpohy club way back when. My kid bro and I used to swap idea on certain technics there at one point. Which was fun too. Since both my brother and I had to completely different of photoshooting and all that. So we always experimented with our own personalized ones. Want could be used from the other we swapped technicis in the darkroom for them.
Heck we had one time for the photoclub we we talking about lighting effect. And I was the ginneau pig where you stuck like a light from underneath facing the ceiling upwards. Like in those scary movies and all that. I nearly pooped my pants as well when one of the others snapped a shot of my fave there. He did some nice tings to it afterwards for one his projects. Came ot well. He asked me if it was okay. I told heck yeah. It was for a learning experience and all that.
I'll just stick my black and whites over here thanks. My kid brother brought most of his equipment for developing from the old dark room here to TO last time he was here. ANd now has it set up at his place.

Lol. A wee bit the same here. Execpt, I'm the Queen of Improvised Tripods. Just about anything can become a tripod when you need it most. Back of chairs, your camera bag, the floor, a shovel.
The chemicals we have are quite nasty. They smell like a combo of dead fish and vinager. Ew! And there are some people in my class who will pluck their paper/negatives from the chemistry BARE HANDED! It was only after the fact that our crazy photo professor came in and told us about the damage that those chemicals do. The people who did reach in sans gloves needless to say.... they didn't do that again.
Anyways, this pic I have in mind is also in Black and White. We're also doing colour and I can tell you this, Compucore, NEVER ever do colour! It is a very HARD, LONG, and PAINFUL process.

Photography's a part of media so we have to do colour theory and stuff. Of course, one of our best guys is colour-blind. But what amazes me about him is that when he pics out colours for things, he has a good sense of colour.

TOMMY never touched US Soil? Give me a break! Do you even know the roots of Tommy? 'movie about the pinball guy' sounds like you have no idea where it came from. Do you know the song Pinball Wizard? I can guarantee you it isn't an Elton John song, it's by The Who, one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Tommy was one of The Who's biggest albums here in the US. Tommy the movie was not a huge hit, but it is not uncommon to see it on TV here in the US. Tommy the stage play debuted here in La Jolla Califonia. The DVD of The Who playing Tommy live is a huge seller for it's maker.
Trust me, we've seen Tommy. DaveTRON

ok, ok. [please don't kill me] i hate to rain on your parade, but being born in '89, all the legendary bands such as the who, Led Zepplin [spelling?] and other greats have passed me by. i was just commenting on the fact that i was told some of the movie was filmed in one of the [many] forts on a hill overlooking my city. yes i know the origin of "Tommy", and yes i wish i was older so i could've sampled the old gold such as the who, Led Zep and all the countless other legends, but i'm stuck with c**p like Usher and Britney spears instead . words of wisdom from...

Huh? I don't understand that. Do you mean since you're so young that you don't feel that you'd appeciate classic rock? I have a 13 year old nephew who loves Led Zepplin, Rush, The Who, and Pink Floyd... among others. Why not try it out and ditch the crap.
Unless you mean the music is unavailable which is not true at all. These bands are still selling CD's and even better than ever.
Please clarify.

I think what he's trying to get at is the time when these classic groups had a whole lot of hype when they first came out. In some ways, I too would like to see what it was like back then. I think he's also suggesting that these days, there's a lot of unorigional groups/individuals out there like Usher and Britteny. Again, I'll have to agree with that too. There's way too much unorigionality these days. That's why I usually listen to J-pop/j-rock or some 80s stuff. ^^
There are a whole bunch of radio stations that still play many of these classics and there are even some TV stations (Which I gladly stuck around for). And someof these classic rock groups are still producing stuff like the C.S.I theme, "Who Are You?" (Which is one of the many songs I'm currently addicted to along with the opening theme to Cowboy Bebop.)

what i am saying is that i have never had a real chance to get to know these bands. i have either been so busy i work untill my fingers bleed, or been concentrating on something else that takes up a lot of time. besides, i'm not really a big fan of rock music. i prefer the quiet stuff like coldplay. even at the time of writing this, i am listening to michael jackson's thriller. one of my firends has also introduced me to techno, and this led me to discover my current favourite: SubAtomicGlue
[http://www.subatomicglue.com/]
it's not my fault, i've had other, more important things like EXAMS, for example. now i have to spend nearly every waking hour pouring over work and school books. i'm writing now because i get a 10 minute break!

That's fine. To each his own. I was confused by you referencing your age in relation to what you knew about rock music. I didnt see the correlation, to be honest.

I've posted a picture of my user once before...
http://www.tron-sector.com/forums/default.aspx?do=top&id=272105&pg=2
However my personal web site has gone down. I hope to have it back up soon. Anyways till then here is another picture of me.
That's me on the right. This picture was taken 11/12/1999. How many here can answer these questions?
(1) Who is that on my right? (the left side of the picture)
(2) What is that "thing" behind us?
(3) What made the "thing" behind us famous?
(4) Where was this picture taken? With enough digging you guys could probably give me an exact address but a city name will do.

Dean Jefferies
(2) What is that "thing" behind us?
The Landmaster
(3) What made the "thing" behind us famous?
Damnation Alley
(4) Where was this picture taken? With enough digging you guys could probably give me an exact address but a city name will do.
Hollywood, California in the Cahuenga Pass just as you turn left off of Barham onto Cahuenga going down towards the Hollywood Bowl.
I used to work with his wife Rosalee at Warner Brothers.

Followup Quiz:
Dean made vehicles for a TV version of a popular 1970's SciFi film that are parked around the Landmaster at his facility. Name the film.
