i just stumbled upon my Tron soundtrack CD and it has inspired me to listen to it again! For those who don't have the soundtrack yet, you should definitely go to your local music store and pick up a copy. It provides a way to re-live the movie while on the road in your car, or what have you. We don't always have time to watch the movie, so why not take Tron with you?
I think each of us should get our Tron soundtrack out this Friday and all listen to it on that day. And if you don't have it yet, you have a couple days to pick it up.
Actually, I propose that the
fourth Friday of November each year be an official "Tron Thanksgiving" day! A time where we can all rest and think about Tron. Watch the movie or listen to the soundtrack, or find your own special way to commemorate Tron. It would be a way to give our thanks to Disney, Lisberger, Wendy Carlos, all the actors and everyone else involved with the production of Tron.
This very memorable and original movie needs an official day of celebration, in my opinion. Does such a day already exist? If not, I think we should think about making one. Having it be the day after the regular Thanksgiving Day holiday each year would make it easy to remember year-to-year.
In addition, Tron-Sector should create a Tron calendar that we can all see, where other special Tron dates can be added to it. (Unless one already exists?) For example: Tron-related birthdays, production milestones, etc. could be on it. Also included on this calendar could be official Tron holidays we could create, such as:
* "Soundtrack Commemoration Day" where we all listen to the soundtrack.
* "Alan-1 Day" where we all internally reflect about who our "user" might actually be in the real world here -- which I know everyone will have differing opinions on. Some might not even believe in a user, which is totally fine.
* "Tron Back the Clock Day" where we all integrate some aspect of Tron in our wardrobe that day -- whether it be a little Tron pin, or electro-luminescent strips on our shoes, or whatever -- you decide!
I just remembered that it seems like
TheReelTodd had an ambitious post recently where he made a few ambitious proposals. I can't remember what he talked about, but I'm hoping he didn't already talk about all of this stuff. I seriously can't remember what he typed about. I'm sorry if my subconscious picked up on your post, Todd, and regurgitated it here. I'm super tired right now, otherwise I'd go check real quick.
