Fan Art Question

on Tuesday, November, 16, 2004 12:15 PM
I was digging around in the forums last night and noticed an avatar I hadn't seen before.

Here:
http://www.tron-sector.com/forums/default.aspx?do=top&id=181641
I spotted Speeder's avatar:

And checking out the webpage seen in that image I found this one:

I really like these images and I especially like the lens flare on that second one. Anyone know if Speeder has any other works posted? Looking at his profile it doesn't look like he's been around since July. Anyone here know him? If not I'll try emailing him and ask him if we can add these or any other works he might have to the Gallery. I'd also like to know what software he used.

Carl

P.S. Didn't look close enough. I just spotted this "All of these were done in Animation Master® from Hash, Inc. with 2d work done in PhotoPaint® from Corel".

Carl,

Ask him if it's OK. We'd obviously love to have them.

I sent an email to both J Palmer (Speeder) and Charles Babbage (the name on the web site) pointing them to this thread. So far no reply from either.

Foilism, does your friend have any ties to that web site?

Hello fellow programs,

Good new. Charles Babbage replied to my email. He said we should feel free to upload his images to the gallery. I asked him what text he wanted tied to the pictures and he stated:

"Just the credit is fine, also a mention that they were done in animation master from hash.com. The low angle image is one I did for GLTron, a free game you can download at http://www.gltron.org. I also created the light cycle model in the game."

In an earlier email he also stated:

"Thanks for the interest. I did the Tron light cycle model in AM way back in 1997 I think. It's nice to see people are still interested in the design of that movie. It's one of my favorites.

I don't have any other Tron art yet, but I am in the process of putting some others together. Now that I have the link to the thread you started, I will be sure to post there when I get done with them."

I for one look forward to seeing his future works.

Enjoy,
Carl

The images by George Demme are absolutely fantastic. I especially like "On The Edge" with the game grid maze and everything. Just plain awesome!

I forget where I found those images, but someplace along the net, there they were. I have a bunch of other stuff I will post soon too. I am sort of ashamed of myself for not doing this sooner!

Anybody notice the image galleries are almost to 1300 images?

I can see all the pictures except those by Bill 'Sketch' Bynum. On the main page I see you added one picture of his. In the gallery I see it says there are 3. Were two already there? Or is that part of the reason I'm getting this error?

I was planning to do a scour of the forums this weekend for more of your art. I will bag and tag them this weekend.

As for the problems in the Sketch area, try going into the top level of the gallery and see if you can view them that way. I'll talk to Auric and see if we can figure it out.

Fixed it. The quotes in his name for the section were the issue. They goof up the code. Quick modification, and voila! Back online.

Looks good now. Thanks.

By the way, just did some digging of my own. Here is my very first post at Tron-Sector:

http://www.tron-sector.com/forums/default.aspx?do=top&id=257055&pg=1
It contains many pictures but most are works in progress. It sure brings back some memories.

Here is one of my current works in progress to give you an idea of something I'm working on:

Enjoy,
Carl
