Anybody know what this thing is? It's been on my PC for months now. I thought I got rid of it last night, but obviously I didn't. It's appearing on top of the "Folders" pane in Internet Explorer and shows up when I vist certain web sites, including Amazon, DVD Empire, Wal-Mart, Office Max, and Circuit City.
Ad-Aware will not detect it, even though it's up to date.
HELP!!!

I call the Spybot: Search and Destroy & Firefox and raise you Ad-Aware.
Get all three, life will be good again.

Ad-Aware doesn't detect it, Spybot is crahing before it can complete the scan, Norton detects nothing and changing browsers is NOT an option.

Ok. Hope is not lost.
Grab HijackThis! http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022-10307556.html?tag=lst-0-5
(I forget who wrote it so here is the download.com link)
Run it, and you can send me the log to see whats going on (I would not suggest posting it here, as the logs tend to be large)

Thanks, Corr...actually just managed to get rid of it. Turns out it was a browser hijacker called Couponage.
Now, anyone want to help me track down the parties responsible and slowly torture them to death?

Glad to hear it!
Make sure you make use of spybot's "Immuninize" function. Definantly install the permanant immunity (and recheck every few def updates). The BHO adds protection too

Have you tried Giant AntiSpyware? It is an excellent, very well regarded and easy-to-use utility; I use it in conjunction with Ad-Aware SE & Norton Internet Security 2004.

I use a combo of Firefox and Webroot spyware killer dealie. Works like a charm.
Just don't use the new windows firewall, now that's annoying and always complains for no reason!
