So, having seen the link I posted on the main page, do you agree this video is TRON influenced?
Here is the link again if you missed it on the main page:

Hey, I'm glad you decided to come back DaveTRON. Even if it's in a limited fashion.
For the video . . . man, I actually think I saw this once. Long, long ago. Too bad the video quality isn't the greatest, and it seems to be cut short at the end.
As for it being influenced. Hmm. Only superficially, I think. (Grid lines on floor, woman dressed up a bit like the Juggler from the Triple-I demo reel, computer theme.) I guess you could say increased the awareness of computers at that time, which helped result in a video like this being created.

Yeah - welcome to the 80's. The early/mid part of the decade was a lot like that (in terms of look and style)

Yeah - that's really the only thing I saw that was TRON like. But I almost think it was more like the old "someone got trapped in the TV" bit more than TRON inspired. The trapped in TV or film bit has shown up in various forms over the years (of old AND today still).

I think the gridlines, or tiles was more of an 80's look than TRON inspired. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE "TRON inspired" this and that, but I think the tile look was more of just an 80's thing than a result of TRON. Just my opinion
There was also a very noticeable theme in the 80's - about people knowing that computers were the future. Computers and computer themes popped up in various forms in music videos, TV, film, and general pop-culture. Remember Weird Science? That was a classic 80's film, that's still fun to watch today - but probably more inspired by the whole computer feel of the 80's than TRON... although Lisa's car did kind of rez-out there in the end, didn't it? Hmmm.
Anyway, thanks for the video link, DaveTRON. It would be REALLY interesting to find out (from the band) exactly what did inspire the look and theme of this video.
As for TRON inspired stuff... I feel compelled to add something a little TRON inspired to my own creative works. Forgive me talking about my own videos here, but for those who have watched a few - there is a common shared theme I've worked in to a couple of them. Just a touch of TRON inspiration if you will. Nothing really blatant, but my motive for those elements is a direct result of TRON inspiration and my own love of the film and the style of visuals employed in it. I would not be surprised at all if many other artists have TRON inspired themes (if only subtle) in their works as well. Actually, much of the TRON-Sector community is very artistic and I know many of us have dabbled in creative works of one medium or another that has a TRON influence to it.
As for me - the project I'm currently working on (which is still months from completion) actually has a very blatant and intentional homage to TRON it in, as well as many TRON inspired color themes and "look" of it. Though the project itself (which is mostly a music video) really is not related to TRON at all, my love of TRON has really affected the style and look of a lot of this project. I really like that element in this project because TRON fans will immediately pick up on my love for the film, and those who are not familiar with TRON will note and (hopefully) enjoy the retro look of the visuals and color themes I use in it.
Sorry to get a little off topic here. But I thought commenting on a potential TRON inspired video of yester year does kind of link up with current artistic works that are indeed inspired by TRON.

You have to take all of the factors into account. It came out less than a year after TRON. The song is called "Do You Compute?" He's not sitting at a TV, he's sitting at a computer in a room with a grid and he ends up "on the other side of the screen".
I think it is influenced by TRON and I have emails in to the band to try and find out. More soon.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I wrote to the Webmaster of Parallel Time, the Donnie iris web site and below is his response to my question about TRON possibly influencing the "Do You Compute?" video.
Dave,
I received the following from Mark Avsec (keyboardist, songwriter and producer of Donnie Iris) in regard to your question on TRON:
"As far as the Tron stuff, the video wasn't really inspired by it. But sort of indirectly. It's true a couple of us went to see TRON. I got totally into it. It was time for a change. I quit smoking. Got real clean. Read a book by Tracy Kidder called THE SOUL OF A NEW MACHINE. All of this together did work to further the "do you compute" motif of the Fortune 410 record."
So there you go.
