some week

on Monday, September, 13, 2004 10:16 PM
I had to go to the ER Saturday cause my pain medicine wasn't working for my ear infection and I was in serious pain. The doctor said I had good reason to be in pain cause my right ear had the worst infection she had ever seen. The doc put a sponge device in my ear so the ear medicine would actually get to the infection and stay. I am FINALLY starting to feel better, and it's about time.

Been busy catching up on homework since I've been feeling better. Finished a painting II assignment, that my teacher excussed me from cause of my ear, but I did anyway. *shrugs* Had to paint a copy of an impressionistic work. I choose Vah Goghs "A Pair Of Shoes". It turned out okay. There's some details I didn't get right, but detail isn't important in impressionism, just light and color. Here it is. I'm not used to painting. Hope to gain some useful know how with this painting class. This class really keeps us on our toes I must say. So much to do, so little time.

Sorry if I've seemed laxed on posting recently.

Well, feeling great. Ear infection is over now. Boy this Painting 2 class is demanding. Requires so much of my free time. I've been kept busy working on this assigment. Thought I'd post it here to show just how busy I've been lately. It's a 3 object self Id painting. The id is the primative and childish part of the mind that is concerned only with pleasure. Can't stop thinking about Forbidden Planet for some odd reason. Wonder why?

I guess my Id is very childish, so I choose toys for my objects, and aslo because the objects I picked I bought for my Tron and Robot collection, which in turn means I bought them out of want and pleasure... blah, blah, blah... you get the idea... my brain is fried this week, what can I say.

That's a self made canvas. If you'd had to stretch canvas before then you know the work involve, especially with a large frame. The assignment's due Tuesday. There goes my weekend out the window again.

Oh well, back to work. *wanders off to paint*

Way better at it than I am. My first and only art teacher HATED me and well.... I can be pretty clumbsy with acrylics..... ^^;;

Sorry about the ear infection. God! That's gotta hurt! It sounds like you're okay now. That's a very good thing.

Finally just finished my painting a few minutes ago. The back wheel is reflecting some light in the photo. Got it finished and ready to turn in tomorrow.

Well...
Over the weekend I found out I have a roommate in my apartment. A little evil squeeky bundle of pure annoyance that sports a fluffy tail. My apartment has a squirrel. It's a small young one, not a baby though. Sure they're so cute and innocent... that is until you have one in your house!!! This little #@!(%# some how keeps getting into my apartment! I've looked everywhere and can't find where he's coming from. This is not something one enjoys waking up to, if not being woke up by in the morning. I've got a trap set for him if he comes back in. I can't have this little unsanitary rodent in my apartment.

I feel like Clark Griswold right now.

So... has anyone else has a good weekend?

Eh... *dosen't answer Nikster's question*
He's avoided the trap right now. I've noticed he's been going though stuff in my apartment. That really ticks me off.

My landlord is coming over later today to see if he can do something about the squirrel. I hope he can.

I came in at 4:30 today and caught the squirrel plotting an assault from the top of my entertainment center. I went after him with my trusty Broom of Justice. I tore apart my bedroom and nearly took out my ceiling fan in the process. I got one good swat at him, but he escaped. Where is he now? I don't know. My apartment is now a mess and I'm tired from a long day.

Squirls are bad news. We now have invasions of the giant squirls which are scaring the little reds away!

Hmm..... isn't there some sorta Squirl-be-gone type chemical thingy that will scare it off? Hmm...... Maybe you might wanna try and catch it, drive a long distance from where you live and drop it off. Works well for the Sparrows, it may work for the squirls. I recommend you give it a try. But make sure it's a LONG distance.

Hmm - I don't have any advice on the squirrel issue - only to figure out how to get rid of it sooner than later. Squirrels are TOUGH little rodents and can cause some serious damage indoors (or anywhere they choose to really).

I just wanted to say great job on the painting! Not only is the subject matter well chosen, the painted representation of it is very well done.

You have an excellent ID self-portrait there!

As for why you're thinking of "The Forbidden Planet" - it's probably two reasons. One - you just love the film (what sci-fi fan doesn't?) Two, and I'm just guessing here, on the subconscious level you're reminded of the device (in the film) that attaches to one's head and can be used to project thoughts in the bubble-shaped screen thing on the table, and sharpen one's mind. Sorry - I forget the proper terminology for this thing. The doctor's subconscious, or "ID" was also projecting that large beast that kept terrorizing the crew that landed on the planet. And there you have the "ID" tie-in. So... was I close?

Got it right Todd. *Tosses a to Todd*

Sorry about the lack of posts recently. Midterms had me pinned.

I got rid of the squirrel. Coruse just my luck there is another one up in my ceiling. He hasn't gotten in, but he likes to run laps above by bedroom to keep me up at night. A roofer is coming over soon to find the holes their getting in and fix them.

Here's about the only thing art wise I've done besides my painting projects.

Isn't Max cute with his widdle bwender hands?

Thanks. That's just the smaller version. I found a nice closeup image on the net of a small Maximilian prop used in the film and referenced it for the image. After doing this image of Max, my respect for his design has tripled. The little hover vents on his legs are just some of the minor details you don't really see in the movie.

I'm still in a robot mood over here. Can ya tell?

Haaaaa!

How cool! A little Cylon... a REAL Cylon from the REAL BSG!

It even has the eye scanner scanning back and forth.

Very vool, Sketch. And nice job on Max as well. He looks really cool there - in his cartoon transformation. Excellent job with the details and shading!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

That's great too!

So, can we expect to see the Galactica, a Basestar, and Raider soon too? Perhaps even Muffet the daggit?

Of course, since you've maid a Cylon, why not Lucifer? You could make his cerebral lights flicker and all

I'm waiting for late December or early January to break out my Battlestar Galactica DVD set and start watching my FAVORITE childhood TV show again! The wife got it for me last Christmas - GREAT stuff! I LOVE that show!

I'm just curious - why are you making BSG icons? Is it just a fun creative exercise or do you intend to put them to use somewhere? Whatever reason - they look great so far!

EDIT: Oops! I meant Muffet the robotic dog, not Boxey. I always get those names mixed up!

These are just little creative exercises I do for fun when I have spare time. I have a lot of these stored away on my computer. I'm not quite sure what to do with them actually.

I have Lucifer outlined so far. But I need a screencap of his entire uniform to get his details and color right. All the images on the net are not what I need.

I posted the Cylon to show I've been in a robot mood. All my sketchesfor the past two months have revolved around robots as well as upgrading on some older robot designs of mine. I guess it's cause of Skycaptain cause of all the robots it had.

Hmmm - I'll try and do a few screen caps if, I remember, the next time I'm watching my treasured BSG DVD's. I seem to recall a few full shots of Lucifer. I remember him approaching the Cylon high commander (the first time Lucifer is introduced to the audience) and also some cutting-room floor footage of him walking down stairs in one episode. Either should provide a good image reference for you.

That would come in handy for this little guy.

I could only find images of the action figure, which is only one color. A screen cap would come in handy. The other images from the show I've found were all just portrait shots of his head and shoulders, which is understandable since you can kinda tell it's a puppet. Still is a neat design.
