IDENTITY DISC Interest

I looking into doing a run of glowing "Identity Discs" from Flash Flight.

They do custom art on discs with orders starting at 36.

If I get enough interest, we can put an order through for some discs with TRON identity disc art.

It looks like a run of 36 discs will cost around $908.

Discs come in light up Red, Blue, and Green with the concentric rings as seen in the movie. Cost will be around $23/disc.

I'm setting a date of Oct 10th as a cut off. If there is enough interest in ordering these by 10/10 I'll do a run.

By "custom art" I suspect they mean they'll print concentric rings on a disc for you. Or are they really talking about altering the location of their fiber optic channels? If so, just how much custom work are they willing to do? I think one with concentric ring fiber optic channes and a 4 way switch to choose between off, a red LED, a blue LED, and a green LED would be very cool but probably cost prohibitive.

Hi Carl!

Indeed it would be be cost prohibitive. You are correct - I'm just going with simple printed concentric rings like the ones we see when RAM is doing frisbee tricks:

I'm using Rams disc as a guide because the artwork can only be as wide as 6.625 inches.

Also, I'm leaning towards 4 black rings (including the circle in the middle) as the art will be the same for the RED, BLUE and GREEN discs. The other option would be to do white rings and hope they block enough of the light from the disc to be noticable. I think black would be nice as that is what the orginal props rings were colored before the FX were added.

I welcome any thoughts.

That's a great idea for design! Simple, and movie-prop good!

I'd definitely check with the company to see if anyone there can advise you as to whether or not white would work for blocking out light.

While the black is fine, the white would make it look more photo-realistic.

Well, as photo-realistic as a video warrior's identity disc could look in The Real World!
