Well, I got to find out how I would do in a "Life or Death" situation this evening. I'd do horribly...
First let me say EVERYTHING IS OK. But it's a horrible situation, at least to me.
I have three kids, 5yo, 4yo, and 18mo. Those of you with kids know, kids fall all the time. Cuts, bruises, etc.. are a part of daily life. Tonight Monica (5yo) was pulling Shannon (18mo) around the living room on a little toy lawn mower. Monica pulled too hard / fast one time and Shannon fell off backwards. She only fell about 6-7 inches, on to nice soft carpet with only a little "thud". Nothing major. With out much of a thought I picked Shannon up and handed her to her mom, and hollered at Monica to be more careful.
Then it struck me as odd. Why wasn't Shannon crying? My wife (as "undisturbed" by the minor incident as me) had barely looked away from the computer as I handed her Shannon. When I turned around to look, Shannon was laying in her moms lap with her eyes rolled back in her head. I instantly grabbed her, and it was obvious that she wasn't breathing.
I'm trained in first aid and CPR, but I lost it. When I picked her up, she showed no signs of life, and I thought I had lost her. I managed to keep my wits long enough to shake her a little and see her eyes come back down. The next 3-4 minutes until the ambulance got here consisted of me wandering around with her crying "Oh God, Shannon, no." and "Please God don't.". In this time she slowly came around. At first whimpering a little, then moving her arms and legs. Then the paramedics got here. By this time, Shannon was ready to get down and start playing again! I handed her off and proceeded to empty the contents of my stomach beside the porch.
In the end, she seems fine. The paramedics checked her out really well, and didn't feel a visit to the ER was needed. The only thing anyone can figure is that the fall both knocked her unconscious and "knocked the wind out of her" at the same time, giving her that "lifeless" look. We'll be waking her up every few hours tonight, and she'll go see the family doctor tomorrow, just to be sure.
I just can't believe how bad I did. I'm supposed to be the one to take care of things, and I couldn't even keep it together at all.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Im so glad to hear she is doing ok, Please let us know what the family doctor says.
as a single father of a 5yo and a 9yo, I know the fears, and the panic and I dont think I would have been any better at handling that situation, i was nearly in tears of fear just reading your story.
I give you and your 5yo a HUGE cyber hug, im sure she was probably very scared also.
and my prayers are with you all that everything is ok.

Thanks, everyone.
We went to the doctor today and he said everything seems fine. Not even a bump, so any internal head injuries are very unlikely (SP?!?). Within 1/2 hour of her fall she was acting like nothing had even happened. Guess it was a lot tougher on me and her mom!
I guess it was just seeing one of my kids look like that I couldn't handle. For a few seconds I thought the worst had happend, and all my training and reasoning went right out the window. Maybe if it weren't one of my kids I would have reacted better. And, God forbid, if anything similar ever happens I will be better prepared.
But it ends on a very happy note! So thanks again, and back to the "Tron"!!

I also want to add how sorry I am that I am late but glad that the incident ended on an up note. A close call happened to a friend of mine the other day with one of her kids. Apparently a child she keeps afterschool broke out of the house and went home unsupervised. So basically my friend was panicked that this girl wandered off only to be abducted, unaware she was in her own home. Her father was at home to greet the girl but said nothing to her sitter so we combed the streets for nearly 4 hours before we got news that she was at home with her father.
