Hi, folks,
Thanks to the link to Gabe Bridwell's site, I had a good drool at the pencil art for the comic book (I love the picture of Flynn from the preview comic; Gabe definitely nailed him.) I noticed he also had a link to the site of the writer for the comic, one Andrew Dabb ( http://www.andrewdabb.com/), and searched Andrew's site for more news.
In one newspost ( http://www.andrewdabb.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=45), Andrew mentioned that Dynamic Forces interviewed 88 MPH Studios head honcho Sebastian Clavet, who gives a very polite, reasonable summary of why Tron 2.0 was halted just before publishing.
You can find the interview here:

Unfortunately, the explanation given is horribly one sided and unlikely. The comic was cancelled well after solicitation. It was cancelled after the orders from the retailers had come in. By this point, Disney's approval process would have already approved all artwork associated with the project. As the book was cancelled by 88 mph immediately after sales figures came in, it seems much more likely that the company was simply dissatisfied with the numbers.

Maybe one of these days when everything clears up on the comic book it'll eventually go to print from who we'll never really know. And the sales figures will satisfy Disney when they show up. I was hoping to get the comic book myself. at least 2 of them one for ready and one for safe keepings there in a plastica bag with the rest of my collection of comic books.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

I dunno... after reading that I think Sebastien's account is probably legit. Sebastien has posted in this forum before and talked a little bit about the hurt he felt in not being able to bring the Tron 2.0 comic to full fruition.
He didn't give specifics in this forum (at the time) as to "why" it was canceled and was very reluctant to really say anything about it. He was just sad that something he loved so much and invested so much time, energy and money in (Tron) might ulitimately lead to his business' demise. I also seem to remember him mentioning it was a licensing issue, but he didn't want to give any more info. It sounded like he just needed time to think.
Having that background of Sebastien's genuine posts here in this forum and seeing this new info brings it all together for me. It has come full circle for me now. I don't think Sebastien would've said what he said if it was only about "the numbers." It actually would've been easier for him to blame it on the numbers as it would've been an easy scapegoat. With the comic being nearly complete (in the eyes of 88MPH), I don't think the project would've been haulted just because the pre-sale numbers weren't there. You're already that far, why not just print them? There had to be something more -- the licensing issue.
Besides, Sebastien is friends with DaveTron here (and I'm sure other Disney folks)... so I seriously doubt he would lie about what happened with the comic.
To me, even though there's no Disney rebuttal in the interview, I have a feeling Sebastien accurately described what happened; as tough for him as it must've been.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I work for Disney and I know Sebastien, and I think his side is pretty accurate. I can't confirm or deny, but let's say I lean a certain way on the issue.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Yeah, it's too bad the comic couldn't be released when originally scheduled. Perhaps it will some day! There's still hope!
The licensing issue is understandable. If I held a license for something, I'd certainly want to make sure it was being used properly. It sounds like maybe both parties just needed to communicate a bit more before it got down to the wire.
I hate to say it, but after getting and reading the first Ghostbusters comic issue by 88MPH, I was a little let down I think the drawings and illustrations were great, but the storyline and writing seemed to be a bit lacking. I wonder if the same issue occurred with the Tron comic, but that Disney didn't find out until it was too late and they wanted their license represented better. I could see that happening, considering how well done the story and 'acting' was for the Tron 2.0 video game.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Last I heard that the copyright to "tron" was held by Cooper Industries. (Who the heck are they? I didn't even find the license on their site!)

My understanding is that Disney let go of the rights to quite a while back, and this "Cooper Industries" bought them.
When I do a search for "Cooper Industries" in Google, I get an electrical parts and hardware manufacturer. So I take it the Cooper we're intrested in is a really small outfit, probably without their own web site. As far as I know, they're some kind of collectibles company, that makes trading cards I think?
I wonder if Disney has (or had) any intention of buying the rights back. Hmm.

Cooper Industries is an electrical parts manufacturer. I think the "Tron" name is a line of fuses and fuse holders they produce. Odd, Tron goes from being a really cool piece of programming to a simple electronic component.

That's really kinda weird! That reminds me of that URL with the name Tron in it. Hmm.... I'll have to find the topic dealing with that.
In any event, it's a real shame that the comic was dumped the very last minute. A doujinshi however......

Hmm, wait. Maybe what happened is Disney let the Tron name trademark lapse and didn't renew it. So some other company trademarked the name "Tron", and now Disney is forced to license it from the current trademark holder. Wouldn't that be a hoot.

That is the short and sweet of it. So now they have to acknowledge Cooper industries. At least the name didn't become iminent domain like with Xerox. Could you imagine anytime someone did a cheezy version of a cyberspace hero that he would be nicknamed "Tron" as a matter of catch all phrasing.
