I'm not sure if you noticed but:

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a MANGA. Come on Manga! (If no one beats me to it and I've completed media, I hope someone contracts me out to do one. ^^ Call it wishful thinking...)

The comic fell through on a business level between 88mph and Disney, according to Gabe Bridwell. (check out some of his great artwork that he did for the series here. ...After seeing these I really wish we could have seen the complete series on the shelves!)
Don't quote me on this, but my personal belief is that the reason the comic never saw the light of the game grid is that it was deemed to be too much of a risk for a franchise that is not a proven moneymaker ( ). Someone, somewhere, probably felt that the money that went into the creation, publication, and distribution of the series would not be recouped, and ultimately be a comic wash.
Yes, Tron has a large fan base, but compare that to the fan base of Star Wars, Star Trek, or any of the other popular comic based on film and TV. And unfortunately I don't think we will see a Manga version of Tron either. ...again - because it's not a proven moneymaker. Star Wars had the huge and solid base to use a springboard to issue Manga... Tron Manga (as cool as it would be0 would be an even larger gamble than what Disney/BVI had originally commissioned 88mph to do.

I think a Tron doujinshi is more possible than manga because doujinshi artists are self-published...
(I actually saw a Star Trek: TNG doujinshi the other day. o_O)

Doujinshi might actually be a better route but you know, if they actually did turn it in to a manga, you be attracting two audiences: otaku and Tron fans. If someone like lets say Tokyopop or Viz got at it, it might actually be sucessful.
But then again, doujinshi would be pretty cool.
EDIT: I've been looking at those pages. I must have been reading manga for too long because I started "Reading" the panals the "wrong" way! Lol.

Well.... I'd have to ask the question if anyone here wants to make a group Doujishi? You know, a team of artists and writers like CLAMP or something.....

Yeah same here Kia. But they are in plastics over here and they are in a box as well in a good storage space. . Of several different kinds. Just never got around over here to catalogueing them over here. I should get going on that with it over here. On either a Access database or my Oracle database over here. Haven't decided on which one to use yet though.
If anyone else wants the database program in Access for their comic book collection let me know. I'll see what I can do and create it for those who collect comics books at their place. A good chance I'll rdo it in Microsoft access for thos who have it. Either from office 97 till office 2000 over here. With menus, reports, etc, etc.

A friend and I did doujinshi (for other series) briefly but we haven't seen each other since high school.. ^^;
I wouldn't mind getting back in another group since I need to make sure my drawing skills don't explode to bits. where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online Kia: Cool. I'm a infamous mythological perfect User.

Well.... I would like to do some of the character sketches/sheets and participate a little bit in the script.
Is there anyone else interested?
(BTW, Kia, just what series did you do?)

Ronin Warriors, but we got sidetracked and worked on our characters more than drawing the guys.

Ohh... *Nods* this may sound silly but I've never really heard of Ronin Warriors...
Anyways, do you know anyone else that's interested in this Tron doujishi project? If I'm going to put up a section up for it on TU (See sig), I need enough comited people to participate otherwise it's not happening.

What are manga and doujinshi? Forgive me for being out of the loop. Are they artistic styles, reminiscent of the Pokemon, Dragonball-Z, etc. characters? If so, I'm afraid I don't really like that style. I was intrigued by "anime" styles about 10 years ago, but I've lost considerable interest in them. Some of the work is beautiful, but it's just not my preferred style. I wouldn't really like it being used for anything Tron related.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Manga= translates as whimiscal pictures/drawings. Basically the comic form of anime.
Doujishi= A self published Fan manga.
Aww... come one.... manga isn't THAT bad. You've got quite a fair bit more stories and such compared to about ten years ago.

Well, if it just means "whimsical pictures/drawings", then I'm okay with it. I like whimsical artwork. But if it means whimsical pictures/drawings in an "anime" way, then I'm not so down with it
Yeah, I don't dispute the popularity of anime (or whatever it's called these days) and how it's helped bring a large number of stories to life... but I guess I'd just need to see more examples of manga to know what to say.
I like the Tron 2.0 artwork on Gabe Bridwell site, so if that's manga, then I'm down with it. But I'm just not into the anime style, in general, offered up by some Saturday morning cartoons these days, etc. So if that's manga, then I'm not really down with it

Er, well.. it's not really manga style...
Anyhow, actually, it's far common for anime to be based off of manga: Dragonball/Z were based off of Dragonball, Chobits, Rurouni Kenshin, Sailor Moon (the anime royally sucks bad)...
Others are based off of games: Monster Rancher, Digimon (actually, this was really based off of a tamagotchi-like object. I've got one.), and Pokemon.
There are very few manga that are based off of anime: RahXephon is one of them, I believe.

I can see anime working well with certain Cartoons and not too well with other cartoons. I guess it all depends on what your preferences are with it.Lets hope that Tron comicbook will come back into the spotlight eventually. We shall see where it will turn to eventually.

Gah! Don't get me started on the dubbing! It's a nightmare! If you really wanna see something better, go for subtitles.
In any event, if you want to see some REAL anime, rent out the Animatrix. You get a whole slew of styles in there. Next thing is to watch the New Linkin Park video "Breaking The Habbit." It shows a gritty yet semi-relistic style anime. It's really something to watch.

Anime has always struck me as cheap. Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse may lack in terms of plotline, but at least the animation looks decent. But when you get anime shows in which the producers have budget-cut in every way possible while still having images on the screen, with framerates of 2 fps, long loops of just a few frames instead of actually drawing new material, and shoddy, ugly characters, I can't respect that. Thus I usually stay away from Anime.
Well, I used to. Until I found this site. This is valid art. It's drawn in anime style, but the artist obviously takes her work seriously, and she puts quality into it. Perhaps she is not alone?
And I've seen a few of my friends drawing characters anime-style. Perhaps if it were not for anime's simplified lines, they wouldn't be drawing at all.
So I'm not going to say that all anime is bad. Most, perhaps. But if the artist is willing to actually make the thing look good-- to rise above the vast plane of mediocrity-- I'll respect that. If it appeals to me, I may even become a fan.
Must muse on this.
