Disc ricochets

on Sunday, June, 06, 2004 1:13 AM
So the other day I'm checking out www.tron20.net with my new broadband connection [wipes chin], and I read the description for 's coolest weapon: the Disc. I read the following quote:
A powerful and versatile weapon that can destroy most basic enemies with one or two hits. Can also be used to block incoming fire. The player can control the path of flight, and a disc ricocheted off a wall or object gains increased power to kill.
(emphasis added) What?! Cool! If this is true, it's a valuable piece of intelligence. Why then was it mentioned nowhere but here?

(Actually, I have doubts about the reliability of this site-- the picture of the Cluster disc, further down, looks very inaccurate, and I'd be very suprised if such an important piece of info was mentioned nowhere but this promotional site. I'd like to clear this up, though... if someone can give me the answer?)

I think what you are hearing about is the power up move in the game that allows you to deflect a disc back in a way that will destroy the enemy.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

Are you talking about the Power Block subroutine? Yes, that has quite a bit of destructive force, but it doesn't seem to be what this article is talking about. It seems to be saying that if I ricochet my disc off the floor before it strikes my opponent, it'll kill him faster than a direct throw. Is this true?

C'mon...1000 posts, almost there...

They might be referring to when you toss the disc then recall it and it comes back to you straight through the enemy. that always gets 'em faster then regular tossing...

I too have heard a number of times about the ricochet thing, and I don't mean the power block (which is easily recognizable by the white path tracer). I have heard a number of times that a disc that hits you after bouncing off a wall is more damaging than a head-on hit. This is why you'll see many players skipping their discs off the floor on its way to a target.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Yes, it's true . . . the odd time when I do play Disc Arena, I bounce the disc off the floor all the time.

First, it helps get past those "block whores" as they're affectionately known. And second, it increases the speed of the disc and causes more damage when it hits.

This applies in other parts of the game too, but is most often advantageous in Disc Arena.

Increased damage, yes, but not enough to make it worthwhile. You'll still need to sink three shots in to kill an opponent, richocheted disc or not.

That's not neccesarily true. I've killed ICPs with a single headshot before. And, of course, if you're using Cluster, the placement of the shot is irrelevant.

Just yesterday I was replaying the Primary Digitizing level of -- the one with the mighty Reformat Wall sweeping across the level. I come across two Z-Lots with my Sequencer. Trying to kill them by skipping the discs off the floor is surprisingly difficult, especially at close range. I ended up using my Suffusion subroutine-- much quicker. It seems to me that for the difficulty involved, it would only be just for the game to reward this "show-off" behavior. I'll give it a try next time I come up against some ICPs.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

Fine. You and I are discussing two different things. In the case of multiplayer disc arena where the Disc Primitive is the only weapon and one-hit-kill headshots don't exist, it's three shots before the opponent expires, richocheted disc or not.

Ah. You'll have to forgive me; tonight was my first time online on the Game Grid.
