E3 2004: TRON 2.0 Multiplayer Details
"Hop on your Light Cycle and speed along the Xbox Live highway."
http://xbox.ign.com/articles/511/511880p1.html
Sounds cool:
Then there's OverRIDE mode, which lets you play various other game modes, such as Capture the Flag, but with the ability to switch to your Light Cycle at any time. Imagine how much the dynamics will change in a game when someone grabs the flag and you both switch to Light Cycles in a race towards home base. |

I checked out the XBox TRON page and it seems that Jet and friends are now CORRUPT - is this the deal?
I was actually considering buying an XBox JUST to play this game... but I'm kind of not too happy with the color scheme. Yes - I'm THAT nit picky!
Did they really color Jet green JUST for XBox-ism of the game? REALLY STUPID if so - I'm sorry - I hate when corporate or marketing decisions are made like that.
If the color scheme is indeed for some good, important and relevant to the game reason - that's cool. But if Jet is green JUST because XBox had to put an XBox spin on it, period - that's just dumb in my book.
If you can choose the color scheme of the main character in the game settings and those images are just green for promotional purposes - that's cool - I can dig that.
Anyone know the skinny on the green?

I'm pretty sure I read in a different Tron: Killer App thread that the green doesn't have anything to do with it being on the XBOX.

Well, Live requires a broadband connection, and I can't get one. So I still won't get an X-box.
Would be nice to see something similar added to the PC version though... Don't you wish your corruption was hot like me? |

The green Jet and Merc are Multiplayer skins.
If you look at their chests they have an xbox logo on them. Don't be scared guys.

Thanks for the clarification, MrMagnetichead - that's MUCH better!
Looks like I'll be buying an XBox soon...

** looks around and realizes fellow programs are all staring him down with an angry look **
Uh oh...
Sorry guys!
I'm just kind of taking this angle on it - my PC is old (3 whopping years old) and can't always deliver stellar performance with the wonderful graphics they pack in to these games. The cost of a $150.00 XBox is easier on my pocketbook than the cost of a PC upgrade - just a graphics card upgrade would cost more than a whole XBox. I've been considering an XBox for some time anyway since my GameGube just collects dust these days and the XBox games look pretty cool - much better than Nintendo's sad offerings of the last couple of years!
Unless DaveTRON can clarify otherwise (which he may not be able to discuss for legal reasons), I'm thinking this latest TRON game will simply be released for the XBox, period. On the technical side, it should be relatively easy to port an XBox game to a PC, but I'm not sure they'll choose to do that.
Hmmm... it is kind of odd that would be released on the PC, and then the next game would be released on a console system instead. I'm sure some research went in to this... and marketing decisions, etc.
In honor of my TRON-Sector friends, I'll second the motion to release the game for the PC in a timely fashion. It would indeed expand on the sales, and a relatively easy move for the programmers to pull off.

I think it's all Microsoft oriented. But, the money has to come from somewhere...

It's because console games make more money . . . simple as that.
They can't be pirated as easily, and they have a potentially wider audience that has more disposable income . . . in the sense that an Xbox is a whole lot cheaper, so people who own them are more likely to spend money on the games instead of buying new hardware too. Like TheReelTodd pointed out. Microsoft is probably backing this partially, also. Oh, and technical support is hardly an issue, either.
Still, like I said before, it should be trivial to port the features back to the PC. So those who don't want to buy an Xbox, can get their latest fix as well. Sell the expansion pack at a reasonable price, and I'm sure people will buy it. I think was priced too high at its release . . . it was like $70 Canadian when it was released here.

The Tron 2.0 XBOX website (www.tronkillerap.com) has been offline and redirected to the Tron 2.0 PC website the few times I have checked over the past couple of weeks. Does anyone know why?
It could be construed from this that the game will be delayed or has even been canceled. Although the XBOX site was not complete, it seems odd that it would be taken offline unless the information that was posted is no longer an accurate representation of what the game will be.

You're right. I must have been the victim of a stale cache or something because I checked right before I posted that.
As Emily Litella would say, "Nevermind."
