I was on quite a bit tonight. I switched to a Super LC and found it actually worked better for me! Wonder of wonders. Didn't see any Tron-Sector folk, though. Maybe tomorrow (Saturday).
Approx. what time do y'all usually congregate on the Grid?

Well, I just had a very quick few rounds on the game grid this morning.
Started out alone, just practicing some high speed angle moves, then was joined by tron - who told me she was practicing and using her boyfriend's game while he was away for a few weeks. She did pretty well - derezzed me more than I her!
It within minutes, TRON 1.0 joined in. He was pretty good and bested be every time we came across each other. W@M joined in for the last race or two just before I had to leave. As I was saying my good bye's - I think itom stopped in.
Oh well - looks like the party was just getting started when I had to go. What else is new
I may be on the game grid later today.
I hope to meet a few of you there if I do

Just got off the game grid for the 2nd time today.
I found -I- Isaac [DR] waiting for someone to join in. We went for a few rounds together and had some fun while we both warmed up. We were soon joined by a couple of other cyclists who've I've never seen before. They were ok - but we were a little bit better
Later on HappyKat joined the game and the three of us had some high speed action matches! Before long Harpo989 rezzed in and we all had a great time.
Harpo989 kept rezzing in and out at times - better get that computer fixed
And we lost -I- Isaac [DR] a few times as we hit some of the custom maps. Time to download some more maps -I- Isaac [DR]
In the end, it was -I- Isaac [DR] and myself again, going head to head alone. It was really fun and we had several long matches that were full of action, skilled turns and strategy... and me hitting the wall over and over and over and over! It was sad to have such intense competition like that... only to end it with me SLAMMING in to the nearest wall! Well, sad and kind of funny I guess.
I had a great time. I hope to see some of you later on the game grid! I should be on again later tonight

I had a great time tonight-- actually won a few circuits, a first for me! Raced against Shiva, the Mystery Banana, and a few others. Shiva mentioned a TeamChat system, which I wasn't able to find a URL for after I got off... Anyway, had a blast. Well - another fine night on the game grid
Started out with a game grid newcomer - pacmantab. He was new and still learning the game, so I enjoyed feeling like dIrK and LordCrash while I won several games against him Actually, he improved noticeably throughout the evening. I'm sure he'll be a slick one before long!
Some Old Guy joined in before too long, and then HappyKat for just a while. =CPU= Jademz rezzed in and we all had some good matches going on.
Ender showed up and teamed up with me, and then we had a full grid when ShivaGoddess showed up for some action!
And action is indeed what followed! There were several intense rounds - and a lot of joking going on as usual
I must say, I bested ShivaGoddess pretty good a couple of times tonight But the experience was short lived - she handed my head to me on her jet-wall several times after that. Not a good idea to piss her off
As pacmantab was getting better later on, there were a lot of Pac Man jokes flying about. And then... some player name changes - get this - ShivaGoddess (actually Layer playing under her name at point) and Some Old Guy became Inky and Blinky! - that had me in stitches!
I called it a night around 11:30 PM or so (Eastern time) as I was getting tired. Funny - right as I was saying my final good bye and about to click on "Abort" - I think The Tweaker had just joined the game. Sorry I missed you again! We'll meet up before long, I'm sure
It was another action packed, joke filled, great fun time on the game grid for me!
We'll see you all next time!
Good night.

I got onto the Game Grid last night to find TheReelTodd happily racing away--on a full server. It just killed me to be able to see your name on the list but not to be able to join. Finally someone left and I quickly joined in, just as Todd left too. AARGH! Would have stayed longer if I'd known that Inky and Blinky were actually Shiva and OldGuy! Oh, well. Todd, Layer, and I (and a few others) are on the game grid right now! I've been kicked off 'cause I'm missing a few maps ( this thread has some excellent links in it; I'm getting my maps from there). Come and join us, before it's too late!

If is sounds like we're having a blast... it is because WE ARE!
It would be great if you could join in the fun, Darksaber7 - I'm sure you'd get addicted as I have!
Well, I just got off the game grid tonight. Need I say I had a great time?
I finally got to meet up with The Tweaker - you're pretty damn good with your light cycle!
Also there were Powder, HappyKat, Raven, Butch.419, and Layer.
I started out lousy, getting derezzed with the first 20 seconds or so in each round for at least the first circuit or two. Or maybe I wasn't so lousy - I WAS going up against some heavy talent out there I started to get a little better as the games went on.
Eldrich joined in before too long, and so did Dark Boomer. And a very high-pinging NEO.exe rezzed in from... Belgium did he say?
Well, we all had a GREAT time! Many jokes flew... and so did the parts of my light cycle tonight - very often
I actually did dominate and win by a large margin one circuit... but that was about 80% because the others kept derezzing before I could even get to them It was the custom map with the little mazes on it.
We lost The Tweaker and some others when some of the custom maps started. I know The Tweaker is downloading them right now.
I head there's some new, new maps out there too - I'll have to get those.
One question - do super light cycles travel faster by default than (regular) light cycles? I swear they inch up on me when going head to head - and not because of the trail increase speed thing - I'm talking further apart.
I was only on for about an hour or so, but it was a great time as always.
I hope to see you all again soon, on the light cycle game grid!

I actually dropped in on a server for a few moments (it had a1000 ping limit ). I think you had just left, TheReelTodd. MutoidMan was there and a few others I didn't recognize. But it was good to see Layer again! He helped me out alot when I was learning to map.
Alas, my ping was about 295 when I got there and 350 when I left... It's hard to play that way. When what you see actually happened about 3-5 seconds ago...
I was starting to consider getting satellite internet, till I found out it's worse for on-line gaming than dial up.... Don't you wish your corruption was hot like me? |

Had a great time tonight! Finally met Todd on the Game Grid, and we had a blast. Todd, as the Russians say, you're nechevo sebye (not too bad yourself) on the Grid! And thanks for the compliment.
Had a great time trying out some of the custom maps. Unfortunately, we eventually hit a map I hadn't downloaded yet; I got kicked, so I headed to DL some more maps. Unfortunately, one of the ones I installed knocked me back to version 1.30; by the time I figured out what the problem was, I had reset my preferences, downloaded the iterative patch, scrubbed some spyware out of my system (I think), uninstalled three iterations of , reinstalled, and reapplied the patch. Then I got back on and everyone (of course) was long gone already.
Oh well. Now I'm set! See you on the Grid, everyone!
Edit: As I understand it, Satellite is very fast, but there's a turnaround time of a few seconds between when you send and receive. Not exactly what you want for LightCycle racing.
And yes, Super LightCycles run faster, but turn slower. So if a Super LC starts creeping up on you, you can left/right a few times to even the odds.

Bzzzzzzzzzzt
Oooooooohhhhh - I'm sorry, Layer - that's illegal account usage! That's JUST not allowed!
Oh man - that carries a stiff fine in this Sector!
Jeez man, I really hate to have to pass sentence like this, but rules are rules. Hey - I don't make the rules, I just have to enforce them, being the honorable TRON-Sector program that I am
Ok, are you ready?
** steps up to the big bench, rezzes on a giant judicial wig thing like they wore in the days of old and clears throat **
"I, the program known as TheReelTodd do pass on the sentence to Layer, for illegal account usage, the fine of having to create his own account here at TRON-Sector.com and user name in his own name and likness "Layer" and promptly become a part of this on-line, TRON-loving community and start posting regularly (or at least from time to time) here at The Sector starting NOW!"
** having said all that in one breath, takes deeeep breath **
Whew!
I'm sorry I had to do that man. You understand though
Um... is it premature to say, "Welcome to The Sector"?

Well, I only had about a half hour or so tonight of game grid time.
I found The Gifted One on there warming up. We went a few rounds, both a little rusty, but had some fun
He had to cut out early because of pop-up trouble, and I don't mean the pop-o-matic bubble
Good luck with your system, The Gifted One - I hope to catch you pop-up free soon
Just before he left, we were joined by a game grid newcomer called Glin.com. He was a quiet one at first, but started talking just a little before long. I don't think he understood things like "gg" and "g1"... or maybe just didn't feel like responding at the time. He played like a noob... but strangely won against me more often that not! Gongrats, Glin.com - and welcome to the game grid!
Now... do I hear... Layer?
** pauses to listen for a Layer post **
