OK, do I have a target on my virtual forehead? Once again, while online, my PC got F.U.B.A.R. and I had to run my "system recovery".
This time (the second) my internet explorer (that I don't even use) went all haywire and developed a mind of it's own. It kept trying to run in the background (was up to 47 applications at one point) even when I was off line. Also, just about any program I ran would crash / lock up within a few seconds.
The first time I got some warning about "incomming worms" and, some how, a new folder got placed on my desktop. I deleted it right away, but it seems the damage was done... nothing worked right.
I use both Mcafee and AVG 6.0 anti-virus software, and I run Spybot S&D from time to time. What else should I be doing?abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

OKay here are a few other things here. ARe you running on a 56K modem, DSL, Or cable??? If your running on the latter two Cable or DSL. You might want to get a firewall hooked up with that. Cause if your running nearly 24/7 with it on. A good chance that a hacker is coming into your system and giving you the FUBAR like Crazy. The other thing is what type of Operating system are you using on your computer. You haven't mentioned if your using windows 95, 98se, me, 2000 pro, XP home, or XP professional, Solaris 9, FreeBSD, BEOS, Linux.
For me over here since I am on Cable over here for my internet. I am using over here Symatec antivirus and firewall both software based products. And I have them regularly updated on a weekly basis over here. I'm eventually going to have a Cisco router to help with the firewall problem over here and have it set up as a mini network over here for my two computers that I would like to have access to the internet at the same time.

I'm only on a 56k modem w/ AOL, so I'm not on all the time (but alot!). I have Windows XP Home SP1, and HAD all the security updates. I'm now in the process of re-downloading them via automatic update, should be done in a week or so...
Hacked may not be the right word here. The first time, I assume someone was in control of my PC because they actually put something on my desktop. This time may have been some type of virus or such, I'm not really sure.
It's just frustrating. I back up everything I can (game updates, patches, downloaded files and programs etc..) but you still loose alot when you have to start over.
I just don't know what else I can do to avoid this stuff. You can only set your security so high before it gets to be too restricting.
Oh, well. I guess there will always be people out there with nothing better to do than cause other people problems.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online Don't you wish your corruption was hot like me? |

Could be a virus. How often is your antivirus updated? I've seen within the last week. I had several definition updated on symantec. Which are download automaticall over here. So that is one possible thing.
Well it happens. as for me and a few others who do back up onto cd burners or like myself DDS3 tapes. Its not so bad to do a restore. Just do the installation of the OS And some of the essential programs and updates. Then afterwards. Dump the rest from tape back onto the hard drive after that. I understand your frustrations on it.

As far as my anti-virus programs, McAfee doesn't seem to do much... but AVG 6.0 seems to update with a new one every few days. It keeps finding and isolating one called Java/byte verify. Any ideas on that one?
Any how, the only thing that was a real pain was re-downloading all of the Win XP fixes and driver updates. On my first search, automatic updates found 47 critical updates I needed!! But that went down to 18 after I got SP 1... I need to find out how to back those up to CD like I do all my other stuff!on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill onlinewhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Darksaber7 if memory serves me correctly on this. You can take a look at their web site for download the service packs online. And say. windows XP home service or something similar and go from there and download them in Bulk I remember doing that once before when I was getting all the services packs for both my main and aux computers here. ANd quickly sent the serive pack from one pc to another via cross over patch cord that I installed on my computer. But yes you can do it that way and burn the copy of the service packs and patches for your computer that way too.

This dosent sound like your being hacked....my guess is that you have tons of spyware/adware on your system. Several things I'd do, first just beacuse grab zone alarm itsa a nice free software firewall that works nicely. Next i'd grab Spybot search and destroy, their are a few other programs that do similar things, but these have worked for me. Always be careful what plugins you install and other programs you dl. Good luck with it.....

I'm now using Sygate personal firewall. I read that Zone Alarm might conflict with McAfee, so I figured I wouldn't risk it. I'm still learning how it works. I knew the 'net was a busy place, but I had no idea how much information was being sent to and from my PC! "Remote address ***.***.*** is trying to connect to your system." Crazy...
Thanks for your help, everyone. Very helpfull, as always! Don't you wish your corruption was hot like me? |

You be surprise how many times that I have gotten people trying to break into my computer over here since I'm on cable. If I may put something here. Its just for general infromation though. I have a link over here on my web site that might be of interests to you and a few others. Ask a friend to go to this web site and download one of the two files. Its some general information about how the internet works. It is the most elemental forms though. I thought that you might be interested in it. But I would not suggest to download it via 56k modem it would take too long. If you know of a friend that has DSL or high speed cable. Got to this link Warriors of the net Its interesting to find out how the internet works. I had used this video for a presentation for a class of mine about a year ago. And got good marks for the course that I had. Which was INtroduction to computers.
P.S. I would suggest to download it to your local hard drive the smnallest one for the film is about 73 megs for medium wuality. And the high resolution is about 120 megs. In english, french, Danish, and a few other languages as ell.
