I remember the Star Trek arcade game (also from Sega), which was way cool. It had Spock talking to you as you played.

The Atari 2600 version, unfortunately, was not a very good conversion . . . as you might guess. I mean, the 2600 had what, 4 KB main memory? I know they put memory chips inside the cartridges later, but still . . . there wasn't enough room for the game, plus speech.

I don't want to sound like I'm trying to blame anyone here May be it could be that the players may have been too rough with the machine when they wre playing it. Or the replacement parts were not upto par with handling the type of abuse on the machine itself. There are many reasons that could be in that. And like you said he was being honest with you on that.

Too bad Star Trek games since then have had mixed success.
