Eech! The thought of my knobbly knees in a Tron-suit-styled kilt isn't a pretty picture. As a Scot, I've only wore a kilt once - a leather one at someone's wedding. Funnily enough I got it from the same place as Vin Diesel got his for last year's MTV Europe Awards. He even had the audacity not to take it back to the shop the following day. Enough of the stereotypes, please. Half of the Americans on this board are probably more Scottish than I am. Still a Highlander/Braveheart themed version of Tron would be quite something.
Boring fact: I went "bothy-ing" last month on the spot where the Kurgan slays Connor MacLeod during the early part of the film (Highlander). Yeah, it was cold and it rained.

What the hay is going on in here?
Hmmm...interesting arguments on the side of not doing a Tron sequel. I agree on all the Star Wars stuff. Ugh. I really would only want to see a Tron sequel if it kept the same look and feel--a very gentle upgrade, and not too flashy!

Thank you, Trace!
I've tried to type out my feelings on this yesterday, but ended up writing three pages (in Word) worth of differing thoughts on it and even how I would try to produce a sequel (short) myself because I think I really know how to make it work (in terms of set up, tie in to the original, and feasible plot).
It was an endless stream of thoughts and views and opinions and not worth posting when I finished. I would have sounded like a babbling idiot. (hey - if the shoe fits...)
But I think you put it so well, Trace. Clear and simple.
So I say "Me too" to that.
Oh, BTW - EXCELLENT discussion taking place here on this everyone! Impressive array of thoughts!abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Yeah I would agree with you on that trace as well. I've always tried in my mind to see what it would be like to bring Tron sequels up to date. I believe I've mentioned a little bit of this once before as for the two other parts as for sequels in the movie. The jump of 10 years from 1982 till 1992. Then from 1992 till now. Like some one else had mentioned maybe make a pilot tv series. And kind of use between the dates that I had mentioned. And use that as for fillers between those dates. I am sure that Mr. Lisberger and the others that are working on the sequel script of Tron could do that. Again this is just an idea and expansion of what the others are mentioning as well as some input of my own here.
My script writing is not that goot. I personally have a good sense of imagination. And I can use like a video camera or a SLR camera like my Pentax k1000 that I have here and get the images that I want to expressed out that way. And the rest would be like using studio equipment or dark room equipment to experiment with the enlarger and all that. To get my ideas out that way...

...and Sean Connery could be the Tron sequels new MCP.
Speaking of Sir Sean, I've had the honour of meeting him twice, and I can safely say he's the meanest man on the planet. He keeps his chauffeaur on £180 a week ($250 I guess), and never tipped the barman who works at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. Note: the barman has worked there for over 25 years, and Sean, who stays there everytime he's back in Edinburgh, never once gave him a tip.
And while I'm off on a tangent about celebrities, the one with the worst manners that I've met has to be Lou Reed. I was interviewing him at the Balmoral Hotel, and he sent his coffee back nine times because, "you guys just can't get it right."
A royal twat as one may say.

I'm normally a stickler for grammar and spelling, so forgive me. It's always way past my bedtime whenever I get round to posting here. It's nothing retentive, it's just when people find out I'm a journalist and see me perform bad grammar, they usually can't wait to let me know.

It's really understandable...
I've got to agree with everyone on this. >> The sequel would be fine as long as Steven is in control and that the CGI is slightly "upgraded"...
I wouldn't compare the sequel to Tron because it would be its own movie of this era just as Tron was of 1980's.
Though, I'd love to see old computers in the sequel... just to remind people what it was like in the past. Kia: Cool. I'm a infamous mythological perfect User.

I disagree. I think there's a difference between "upgraded" and same look and feel. Take the Tron 2.0 game. From my view, the graphics are increasingly upgraded (Yea, I know, bad grammer ) because the enviromnent is more complex, but I thought it still captured the look and feel of the original.
When I saw Johnny Mneumonic, I thought the representation of the Internet was very Tron-like and the images were significanly upgraded from the original Tron. From a marketing persepctive, I think the audience would be disenchanted if the landscape didn't do an overhaul by looking dated. Computers have come a long way with increased processing power and more complex program - I feel the natural evolution of the electronic world would make sense. Kinda like comparing cities today to how they looked 100 years ago.
