Anyone got a clear and cocise definition of "sci-fi". Appreciated. And who organised the list again?

Personally, I'd have Tron second, but only to Star Wars. Naturally.

I have wondered about that myself.

On a simple level, just taking the two words Science and Fiction, any fiction involving the sciences would qualify.

That brings a lot of movies into play though. Does a bio-pic of Madame Curie become SciFi due to her studies? Does Good Will Hunting become SciFi, it involves mathematics?

I guess I'm ok with thinking of it as being anything that involves fantasy. I like how wide-spread that term can be. It makes me feel like anything is possible if you can imagine it.

From the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:

Main Entry: science fiction
Function: noun
: fiction dealing principally with the impact of actual or imagined science on society or individuals or having a scientific factor as an essential orienting component

I think that pretty well defines it!

"We are, after all, not God." - Cmdr. J. J. Adams
"C is for cookie. That's good enough for me." - Cookie Monster
"If money is the root of all evil, I'd like to be a bad, bad man." - Huey Lewis & the News

Most recent PC game collection update: 04/12/2012. Check it out!

lol!

I usually consider science fiction to be some way invloved with advanced technology ( space travel, lasers, etc...), and the rest to be fantasy. But the lines cross so much and so often, that I think the term should be sci-fi fantasy for all of them. It seems, to me any way, that most sci-fi or fantasy movies cross into the others territory somewhat, so why try to seperate them!

Don't you wish your corruption was hot like me?
