OK, Dave...I want you to settle a little argument I have with my little brother.
Regarding Vigilante 8 (BLOW S*** UP!!! I love that tagline)...

Gawd I love what I do! Thanks for reminding me how cool this job is Qix. Drop me a note privately and let me know where you want me to send the images. |
I was always a fan of Zork.. But before I played Zork Nemesis, I was out of the Zork world for a bit.
That game rocked. It had a very poetic feel to it and a surprise ending... Great work..
Well.. You do have a cool job and have a very awesome history.
I look at these games (past and present) not as games, but VR dreams of the people who make them. I believe, not so long ago, that these Computer games we play today are no longer games, but a personal insite into the minds of the dev. team.
These are not games that we venture into these days, but worlds to explore, enjoy, and learn from. This goes way beyond simple thought process. It's a mental venture and a appreation for those who take us there.
This is why I have a love and appreation for the games.
For the Contact, I'm sending you a PM now..

Vigilante 8 was set in the Interstate 76 Universe. It is essentially the console version of I76 although completely dissimilar in gameplay.
I have a video clip of the commercial for that in my collection. When the little girl look s through the hole in the bus and says 'Holy S**T!'

Kyp,
No problem, but my role was small compared to the guys at Id and other people at Activision. My handle in Quake is Cannon Fodder since I usually am! DaveTRON

Well, how I see it, every member is a key member. Even if it's beta testing, programming, Voice Acting...
When it comes down to it, everyone is a key member and every role matters.
I just really wished I had a cool job like that. The closest I ever came to any game develoupment is Modding for Unreal 1. I never finished and the friends I was working with lost interest rather quick. They were more into playing the game and not so much into learning how to make their own. It was fine... a nice attempt.

DaveTRON, you worked on Interstate '76 and Battlezone?! Those are two of my all-time favorite games! Not only did I get the I'76 Nitro Pack, but I also sent away for the I'76 Soundtrack CD, which is quite cool! I still play both games and listen to the soundtrack today.
I remember reading somewhere that I'77 was originally the name of the sequel. Man, that would've been cool.
Was there supposed to be more funk music?
Any chance I could get a copy of that box art? It would probably make cool wallpaper!

I recently unearthed my copy of I76. It was one that came free with my then-3d card, an STB Nitro 3d card. Man that card sucked.
I seem to remember that that version won't run on a modern system... DaveTRON, know any tricks? I even seem to recall that Activision was willing to exchange my copy for one that would work, but I never got around to doing that.
I also have I-82, never could get into that game, but I don't recall why. What was bad about it?on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

The bad about I-82 was that it went from the fun and sunny 70s into the cold and dull 80s. A version of the 80s I never lived, but in that world it was bleak. It just lost some of the spark of I-76.
As for getting it to run, I have never tried it on anything new. Might need a Windows App Fix to run. I'll give it a whirl and see if my tech genius here at BVG, Scott Torroll, can repair it. I wouldn't mind playing it again.

My I-76 copy does say it's for Windows 95. Dang, I wish I could remember what the deal was. I'll have to try running it soon. That game just had so much fun funk.

WEll there is one way and that is to have a system that has multiple windows installed. Say a system that upon powering up asks if you wish to run 98SE or XP
A bit tricky to set up but it can be done. then just boot into 98 and play the oldies but goodies

Most game sthat won't run on Windows XP will after an application fix.; If you can find someone who knows how to do them. They are little patches that allow old Windows apps to talk to the new Windows. Why applications derived from each other do not speak the same lingo, is beyond me!

I'm still running Windows 98 on my main gaming machine, actually
... though I am planning to upgrade to Win2k at some point. (Hate WinXP!)
