thin red line....

I hope many of you caught the special on techtv covering spam and the complexites of this topic. Its really difficult to offer a 'fair' definiton to get rid of it. Is autoupdates spy ware, it knows your version number of program(s) you are running and will infact contact a website and update these without giving much notice to you. It goes along with many of the current internet hot topics...I know its (spam, spyware, child porn) when I see it, I just cant definie it. I dont like spyware on my system its very irritating. But when I install something, and am too lazy to read the user agreement, how can that possible be illegal....I agreed to put it on my system, I just didnt read the fine print. The reason spyware exsists is beacuse it works, it does make money. So, I dont believe they will be able to 'ban' spyware, only regulate it. And more regualtion is definitly needed. Another gripe is that a US/Canada federal law wont cover 'all' of the internet. I believe that things will get better, we just need to be more vocal on what we view as acceptable marketing practices.

I think spyware is evil and should be outlawed.

I know some "spyware" only sends back anonymous statistics to the company that packaged it, but I don’t even want anonymous data sent out about me or my computer without me first knowing exactly what it is and having the option to say no before transmitting it.

Perhaps if all software were to clearly spell out ALL of it's functions, in terms of everything the software may broadcast about you, period - maybe then the definition of spyware would not need to be so clearly specified as you would be able to read all about what it will do. Then again, who has the time to read all of the fine print?

As for me, I tend to think of spyware (not auto-updates - you all know what I mean) as a nasty little trick and I relate it to the car dealer that has their office bugged so they can hear you whisper to your wife about how much money you're willing to part with before they march back in and make you a counter-offer.

I think regulation is a must.. though regulating it will not be so easy. I'm sure once regulation of it starts, companies that put out spyware will just go looking for all the loopholes... and they will find them, and more regulation will be needed.

Technology is so great - why must it be abused like this? It's sad.

Again its difficult to come up with an all inclusive definiton, but basicly spyware collects information about your system, possible surfing habits and relays this information to a server.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

It's also annoying.

It can be also used in form of a trojan... >:/

Even worse, the government may have used a form of spyware or virus to track us. (But I can't be sure of it. I read somewhere that Norton or Mc Afee agreed to keep their programs from scanning for it.)abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

The only time that I can see a good use as an example if I may. If lets say your using an operating system. Whether its Microsoft Windows based OS, Or a version of Redhat Linux that could have the same similar feature, or what ever other OS that is out there. (REdhat doesn't have the liveupdates like microsofts has for its windows OS> Just giving it as another example.) I could see letting the people know about updates about the OS. Kind of a nice little reminder that wouldn't bother be as much. Since they would let me know about ceratin patches for the OS>

But what ircs me is that when information about my Surfing the net going to whatever sites I should happen to go to is another things. Since it not really their business per sey to know where I am going unlss they ask me or who ever they are doing this to with their consent you know what I mean. I usually just use a program that checks out for any spyware on my hard drives once a week and just get rid of their annoyances. THats all I do over here..

Thanks Everyone...

Of course Kmon and Compucore did bring up some areas I didn't think about (and with good reason), but when I mean Spy-ware I mean Corp-Site spying. As in (ie.) X-Company shouldn't have any right to track where I decide to visit on the www without my permission. I don't have anything to hide (or maybe I do), but reguardless.... it's no business of anyone else other than my own.

Does anyone remember the book, "1984"??????

Reguardless weather it's the goverment or some Corp lackies, it's still worng...

DEATH TO SPYWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Everyone, for lending me your thoughts..

Actually, I think these devious little programs would be very attractive to the eye.

Imagine an attractive, seductive program - she looks perfect and takes great interest in you. While you're busy flirting with this jaw-dropping, drop-dead gorgeous babe-a-tron, she'd be scanning through all of your personal files, collecting any personal information about you that she can, and transmitting it to whoever she's been programmed to send it to. The longer you allow her your company, the more information she will collect and pass along.

It would be very similar for our female programs, only it probably be some well chiseled, perfect smile, hunk of a program.

That's what spyware does - it attracts you because it's usually packaged in some free software or videogame you downloaded (but not at all limited to that). If I recall correctly, in the 2001 version of Kazaa, there were close to 300 spiware elements identified in it. One can only imagine how much personal data and net-surfing habits might have been collected/recorded and passed along.

Spyware is generally an evil little program, wrapped up in such a pretty little package.

same.. ad-aware is great... It's free and with a really nice GUI.. There are others, but I stick with it and it's updated ofted.

Someone said that the spy-ware programs must look good in the Tron world... Well.. even though I hate spyware, I do have to agree that they must look like the TRON versions of James Bond or Jim Rockford.... lol

But Jim Rockford would be more like Ad-aware, but you'd have to do something for him first before he helped you out.

lol...... I still love the Rockfordfiles....

Spyware, no matter what incarnation it takes, is wrong and evil. If you do not give something permission to be installed on your computer it should not be installed. Worse yet is when something is installed without your knowlege, then you find it, then it will not uninstall without some special software from the original offender (and even then it doesn't come off)!!

There should be a law becasue it infringes on a persons right to privacy, especially so becasue it doesn't serve a parctical purpose (such as national security or whatnot, only for sales).order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online
