Anyway, August 28th was the date of Tron2.0 Release here in good ol' GodZone. I was absolutely manic at work, and couldn't get down to EB Games until yesterday (Saturday).

So, I walk into the store and the conversation runs like this:

"Well, Sir, even though we have copies of Tron2.0 - I CAN NOT LET YOU HAVE ONE!!11"

"Why not? Have you been paralysed by Denebian Frogsnaplers?"

"No Sir!"

"Have you then, fallen under the spell of Venusian Mind-benders?"

"No Sir!"

"Is it because you are a devotee of the Vishni Gods of Sloperon 6 - and can not recall where they are?"

"No Sir!"

"Then please elucidate as to the problem!"

"Yes Sir, I can not sell you Tron2.0 BECAUSE ALL OF THE CD -KEYS ARE WRONG!!! EVERY CD-KEY IN NEW ZEALAND IS WRONG - AND NO ONE CAN PLAY THE GAME!!!"

"AHHHH - I can see the difficulty now. Pray Tell me my good man, what are the name(s) of the person or persons who have performed Sepuku for this most gross negligence."

"That I can not say sir!"

"Hmmmm. Who is to blame for this most heinous crime? And when will the CD-KEYS be available?"

"I can not vouch safe to either question Sir!"

"Can I then, in advance, reserve my copy, and leave my telephone number for you to call me when such has arrived?"

"Indeed you may sir...

Sounds realy weird. How can the cd keys fpor the game be wrong?? Did he opem one up to try it out on the actual game?

Well they had probably sold a few copies of the game already (M0b1u5 said he wasn't getting it on the first day it was out) and discovered the problem. It's pretty likely the NZ distributor of the game would have been made aware of the problem as soon as the first few tech support calls came in. After the problem was confirmed it would be standard practice to send out a notification to retailers and tell them to hold the game until the situation could be rectified.

They [the NZ distributor] will probably just print out new key codes on little adendum sheets and send them out to the retailers to insert in the boxes.

It definitely does suck though, for both consumers and the company.

Welp - I got my Tron2.0 CDs.

As it turns out - they just stuck a sticker over the original CD-ROM key. So I guess I now have two keys - if I can be bothered plugging 36 combinations in! :P

I got my new DSL Router/Modem/Firewall today too - so Tron had to wait until that was installed and configured correctly...

87% installed so far.
