What's your favorite quote?

on Wednesday, September, 03, 2003 3:46 PM
There is a lot of humor in the game. My favorite line from the game is when I got nailed by an ICP and just before the loading screen came up, just as my lights were going out, I heard an ICP say:

"If that's a User I'm shareware!"

What lines stuck with you?

Jet: "Hey dad, you think I can get a copy of that Mercury program? I need a good screen saver."

A lightcycle opponent after I'd lost my brain and crashed within a few seconds of starting the race:

"Eight bits short of a byte."

I liked the Kernel's lines.
"This server is NOT going down on my watch!"
"Broaden the search criteria"
"What is your creation date?"
"Impossible! You're far too complex to be from that era!"
"Blasphemy!"

"You'll have your own acronym"

I didn't even understand that quote, personally. Is it a taunt? A threat? I don't get it.

You'll have your own acronym
I didn't even understand that quote, personally. Is it a taunt? A threat? I don't get it.

Well first you know what an acronym is right? Words that are actually an abbreviated series of words, usually formed from the first letters. Examples:

NASA = National Aeronautics and Space Administration
SCUBA = Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus
RADAR = RAdio Detection And Ranging

Well there are of course acronyms in the computer world (though most related to hardward not software).

FAT = File Allocation Table
SCSI (pronouced suzzy - like board member) = Small Computer System Interface

Anyway, in the context it would be an honor for a program to get their own acronym (sort of like being famous). So the line isn't a taunt or a threat per se. The ICPs are luring him out, like "come out and we'll make you famous" -> "If you come out we'll name an acronym after you." Get it?

What I find funny is that now and then one of your light cycle opponents is named Crom

Crom is also used as a name of a casuality after the Kernel's forces invade the corrupted server to get Thorneabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion
