What isint everyone a memeber of gamasutra, you're missing out.


Quick overview:

Frank rooke is the lead game designer for tron 2.0 and establied a few of the things that went right and what went wrong.

Right:

1.Publisher compatibility
2.Identifying iconic elements from the film (they definitly did that right!)
3.No movie license curse
4.sharing code (with nolf 2)
5.evolved art direction


Wrong:

1.Short on initial resources
2.Levels unplayable until later in project
3.Linking projects (the pains of tweaking nolf code)
4.Loose review process
5.Commercial 3d software woes

The article was well written, though Frank should have mentioned the super star qa and external beta testor performance

Its worth picking up the article just to see the concept art!

Kewl article, it's always interesting to hear how games are made. We've come a long way from the days when Lord British was making Ultima games in his garage all by his lonesome
