My Avatar is ripped directly from the Tron DVD movie. It took me a combined total of about 6 hours to get right. Firstly, I grabbed about 200 screengrabs from PowerDVD during the "beam in" and "lightcycle transition" sequences in the movie.

Then I used CompuPic Pro to creat a slideshow of all the screenies, so I could see if they blended OK. Then I took about every 5th shot, and saved 'em out.

Then I imported the first sequence into Photoshop and removed all the background info, leaving them with a black background, created a droplet and used that to get the cropping correct - so the animation would stay solid curing playback.

Then I repeated this with the Screenies of the ligthcycle appearing. The final frame is actually a render from the "making of Tron" that I finnagled into playing ball with the rest of the sequence. It worked out OK to, using a fade effect to bring MOBIUS into the graphic. (The main reason I put my name in it was to stop bandwidth leeches stealing my data traffic!)

The two sequences didn;t matchup correctly though, so I created a signle transition shot, zoomed in slightly with a small orange blur between his hands.

I think it turned out pretty good - and I use it at abotu 6 message boards now. I'm not too happy with the size - 38KB, but there wasn't much I could do about it and maintain a nice look, and fluid flow.

My red X took almost 5 hours to make, it was done in photoshop and paint, brought together. I had real problems with it, so much so i had to use 3D Max 4 to try and get the modelling right. Finally i made the perfect blank box with a red x.

Created mine as a cool drawing of what I imagined my avatar to be, a rogue game bot from a sci-fi game. I shrink it down in Paint Shop Pro and added the border pixel-by-pixel, then used the graphics from the digicons menu to create the BG.

Mine started off as this one. The character in the image is named Matrix. It's a little character I came up with a few years ago. I need a better name for him. I used that avatar for a while until I decided to come up with an actual Sketch character that better reflected my freindly forum attitude. Matrix was just too mean looking. Well, one day I was doing a bunch of random tronish character sketches to try and come up with Quicksilvers character. I happened to draw out the character you see in my avatar and liked its look. After that I just scaned , resized, and pixeled it. I wanted to keep the green circut theme going that my old avatar has, since it looked so cool. I recreated the background by using parts of the old one. Then I just combined the background and character image and there's my current avatar.
