Tron 2.0 FAQ?

on Saturday, August, 23, 2003 6:51 PM

I was thinking of starting a FAQ for the game. There will no doubt be others doing the same, but I figured that maybe if all of us here at Tron-Sector contribute to it, it should be the best one.

I'd like to do it in HTML, as opposed to strictly text. I mean, everyone can view an HTML file these days. As a result, graphics and screenshots can be used to explain things. That way we can do walkthroughs and stuff. (I can even make it so that all the hints are hidden, until you click on them.)

What do you guys think?

Also, I was wondering if we could get permission to use some of the images in the game's help file. For showing what the weapons, powerups, etc. look like. If not, I understand. I think screenshots should be okay, though?

You might want to keep an eye on GameFaq's Tron 2.0 page. Also, if you do a FAQ, you might want to upload it to them, as they seem to be the repository for game-related FAQ's and walkthroughs.

Yup, GameFAQs is the best place for that stuff. But they don't have one for yet. I can start it now, but obviously can't get very far until I have the full game. (Of course, that's the reason why no one else has submitted an FAQ there, either. )

Still, I could do an outline, and a walkthough for the gold demo. IGN already has an FAQ for the gold demo, which is okay . . . but we can do a better one, IMHO.

I just want to wait until the powers-that-be (Cliff and DaveTRON) say it's okay to use images from the site and/or game help files. If they say no, I would still like to do an FAQ, but it will make things a little more difficult.

Okay, I threw together a very basic framework of an FAQ, as an example, to show you roughly what I have in mind. The idea is to create an HTML FAQ, zip it up, and then distribute it to various sites.

I hope Sketch doesn't mind my using some of his icons. If anyone has any objections to what I've done, please let me know. I won't go any further, until I know I'm steering clear of any trouble.

Oh and, tell me if you like what you see. It's still rough of course, but I put this together very quickly. I tried it in both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firebird, but it definitely looks better in IE.

EDIT: I cleaned it up a bit, and it looks a little nicer now.

Okay, the FAQ is coming along pretty nicely. It's still nowhere near complete, but it's getting there in terms of structure and some content.

I'd really like to hear from anyone, as to what they think of it so far.

Looking very nice, but you have a minor mistake.

6. <-- that's listed twice... Normal mistake, I understand. Brain farting is evil.

I GOT THE GAME TODAY! WOOHOO!

Of all places, Toys R Us was selling it a wee bit early.

Anyway, now I have a difficult choice to make.

Work on the FAQ, or play ? Hmm . . .

Okay, after not being able to work on it much for the last few days, I've done some major updates and will continue to do as many as possible before Tuesday.

Once Tuesday hits, I'll be back in school (after a few years), so I won't have as much time to work on it any more. But I'll keep trying to do as much as I can.

I was hoping some kind folks would volunteer to help out with writing some sections, but no one has so far. The walkthroughs are the part I could use help with most. If ten volunteers each did three levels, that would cover the entire game.

Anyway, I'll keep plugging away at it.

I've done lots of big updates over the weekend, that you might want to check out.

I'm hoping to have everything done except walkthroughs, single and multiplayer overviews, and editing, later this week.

Some stuff is broken or a little messed up, and I'm aware of it . . . but I'd still really appreciate anyone's comments or help. I'm trying to make this into the be-all-and-end-all of game FAQs, especially written for . Let me know how I'm doing.

Thanks.

I'm trying to get the walkthroughs done as quickly as possible, but they take a long time to do. When I finish, they will probably be better than the strategy guide . . . no joke. I was very disappointed with the guide.

Anyway, I'll continue to work on them, plus add some info about the editing tools this weekend.

I have installed Tron 2.0 on my new PC, it is a p4 celeron 2.4 ghz cpu, 256 mb ram, Win 98 se. When I launch the game, it gives me the display option menu but then won't play. I get a spinning cd-icon instead of my cursor. I check task manager and it does not show the gams as 'not responding', it just won't work. Any advice?

thanks

It's the copy protection routine of the game, that's causing the problem. Some CD-ROM/R-W/DVD-ROM drives can't read the copy protection on the CD, so you get the spinning CD icon, and then nothing.

If you have more than one drive on your computer, try putting the CD in the other one. Or try temporarily disabling the write function of your CD-RW, if that's what you're using. Instructions for that are in my FAQ.

If you don't have another drive, there's a way around this . . . do a search in Google and see what others have to say about this problem. (That's my subtle way of not directly mentioning *cough*no-cd patch*cough*. )

tried that it now launches before saying something about my video not being able to support TnL, whatever that is. Therefore the game will not play.

Tnl is a hardware accelerated lighting engine, it cannot be emulated throgh software, thus you need a card with TnL support to play a game spouting TnL (tron 2.0 for instance). Many cards support this feature here is a decent list:

ATI radeon 7200-9800
Geforce 2-FX
Matrox Parhelia
Matrox Mellennium P750
and a few others

Most likely your card isint in the above list

I would try and pick up a dx9 card then you will be able see all the eyecandy tron 2.0 has to offer (that is if the rest of your system is up to the task). As far as best value I would look at a radeon 9600 xt or 256mb either could be found for around $200. Good luck to you.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I was using the onboard 32mb video, for the S3 adapter. I do have a 32mb pci video card that I had to use in my previous system. But just for one game, I don't know if it's worth it to go throgh all the hassel installing the other video card. But thanks for the info, now I know what the deal is.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill onlineorder abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill
