Okay, first chance I got, I rushed to my local Barnes & Nobles and bought the latest Computer Games magazine to get the Tron 2.0 Single Player "Exclusive" demo.
I should've kept my 8 bucks.
So far the Gamestop demo is by far the only descent demo to play. This one left me going "WTF" about many things.
This MIGHT give some spoilers so, if you don't want to be let in on the secret...go away

Okay, still with me? Allright. First gripe. Opening cinema - loved it. The interaction between Jet and Alan, seemed forced and they had WAY too much waving of the arms in the animation. But that wasn't my gripe. After Jet got rezzed into the computer world and they started with the credits - I just REALLY REALLY hope there will be more to the opening cinema to lay a better foundation of a story than the one in this demo. It felt like it was chopped up a bit and rushed, so I hope I'm right.
Second gripe. I thought we got to go exploring an old Encom game server (A la old movie Tron style)? I get dumped into this boss level automatically without a hint as to why the hell I have to suddenly start with a boss. Nothing leading up to it. At least let me run around a bit with the new weapons (ball, disc & rods plus their sub-routines) so I know what they can do.
Okay, trial and error I defeat the 'boss'. Another cinema, which was a little goofy and boom! I'm done? WTF? No moving around? No exploring a game server level?
Maybe I missed something? Nope. That's it. Maybe they modeled a MP game using the old game server. Nope. No MP enabled.
Fine, maybe it's in the Light Cycles game. Load it up. VERY, VERY nice field. No old Tron, however, but absolutely stunning. I play, two rounds and that circuit was over. The other two demos had 3 rounds. This only had two. Disappointing.
In a nutshell, I was very disappointed with how this was put together. Yes, because I've played the other two demos I had an idea of what to do in this one. But to the joe-blow kid who installed this for the first time to see what this Tron-thing is all about - I can almost garauntee after about 5 minutes of playing s/he'll uninstall the game and tell everyone how crappy it was. There was no learning curve in this game unlike the GameStop demo.
I know, I know...I'm dissin' on Tron, but as a fan (And I think everyone feels this way) I have a larger emotional tie to this franchise and REALLY want this game to succeed. Possibly I have higher expectations of this because I'm closer to this than the average joe-gamer (Probably the same logic as, no matter HOW many bad reviews of Star Wars Galaxies gets, there will be Star Wars fans who will still swear it's the best thing since that one night in '82 when Dad forgot to lock the cable box and you stayed up all night watching "Heavy Metal" over and over again (Those who are 30+ KNOW what I'm talking about ))
Anyhow, enough venting (and ranting a raving) I still love the game. I'm still excited August 26 isn't as far away as it was a few weeks ago, and I'm STILL going to be first in line to purchase this and STILL plan to alienate my wife and kids for the follwoing 24-48 hours abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I see where your coming from... I haven't seen it for myself, but I can understand because the whole idea is to turn people on to TRON 2.0 and not off..
Once again, I'll have to see it for myself to agree with you but I know what your saying.... and lets just hope the newbie/kiddies aren't turned off for seeing it for the first time.
Thanks for the input...
BTW: It's really time to start to promote this game. If you have friends that have PC's that can run Tron 2.0 (even by the min system) then either burn them a copy of the demo or show them the game yourself.
It's very important that we spread the word of TRON 2.0...

The old Encom server will be in the final game. From what I hear though the old tank programs are on Automatic...
As to Tron himself......dont know if he'll be in it or not.

The beginning was great; I didn't notice excessive arm waving, but maybe that's just me. It was a bit short, I'll agree with you there. I imagine the real game will either have a longer intro before you get digitized, or another one afterwards to explain things more.
Granted, the SP FP level wasn't the old ENCOM server "movie-type" level I thought it was going to be, but I liked it anyway. Yeah, they threw you right into a boss level, and it was freaking hard, but we know they're not going to start the game that way. BTW, Resource Hogs must die!
The light cycle level is awesome.
Heavy Metal... hehehe... oooh yeah, I know what you're talking about! Remember how it was all over the news? I have it on VHS. Gotta remember to pick it up on DVD.

Curtishart, thanks for that review of the Computer Games mag demo. I really didn't feel like spending $8 bucks to get a demo, with the game around the corner anyway, but now I definitely know not to bother.
It pains me to say this . . . but if you take the previous MP demo, and now this one going by your review, I've observed that they both have given a bad impression of , to most of the gaming community.
I've been to many message boards where your average gamers, and even some Tron fans, have been slagging off at these demos and saying will suck. The game's reputation has been hurt tremendously.
It makes me angry when these people diss the game, because it's not fair to judge until it's complete. Honestly, I wish that only the Gamespot demo had been released, and never mind the "exclusive" demos based on pre-release code . . . but what are you gonna do. It's too late, the damage has been done.
I can only hope that they'll all be eating crow, when the game is released.

I am truely saddend that the demo did not whet your appetite for the game the way the producers had intened. I'm sure that they wanted to give you a taste of the game without giving it away.
You have to believe me when I tell you, though, that is worth it and does delive on the promise of bringing us back to the Electronic World, in many ways. It's all there. You won't be disappointed.
Finally, this is a Monolith game, so the exagerrated acting is par for the course.
Please please please do not be dismissive of the game because the demos did not meet your expectations. The full game in it's entirety will meet those standards, I promise you.
Come on, you scuzzy data, be in there.

I haven't seen that yet. Or heard of one for tron. And as for the bad reputation that seems to be coming from the others places. Reminds me more of what I have seen over the years for Computer operating systems. Like Mac is better than XYZ distro of Linux or Windows XXXX. Some one had said in another post somewhere here. And praise them for saying it cause it makes sense for games like Tron and other first player games. That you can't please some of people all the time. But you can please some people most of the time.
And yes this is just a sample distro of what is coming out on the 26 of this month. Even though I know from what I have seen of the pictures and the sample trailers that it will do good. But for thoise who expect a lot from a sample distribution of the game. I'm sorry to say that they are cutting themselve off at the knees when it comes to this. And I haven't even played the demos myself. Because of my computer system being so out of date.

I think that, despite what some think of as poor demos, will be a big ol' hit. First there is the built-in fan base (geeks like us), then there are the FPS fans who will find this game engaging. Some have complained about a lack of multiplayer games (no CTF, deathmatch, etc) but that's not the goal of this game (play UT2K3 if that's what you want). Then again won't there be tools to make levels and stuff? Who's to say that a CTF & Deathmatch level woudn't be made by the fans?
In any event, there will always be nay-sayers and complainers. They have very often been proved wrong and they will be proved wrong again. Heck, even Tycho has said so!
But I'm still waiting on the comic that says so!
Come on, you scuzzy data, be in there.

Folks, one other factor to consider is that the first Multiplayer demo and the Computer Games demo were created from Alpha code. The game was nowhere near finished yet. The demo that matters the most is the one that you can download from www.tron20.net and many other sites based on the Gold Master code. If you want a taste of TRON 2.0, get that demo.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I made a comment that the LL and RR were slow in comparison to RL/LR's...NO MORE!!! YEA DAVETRON AND THE WHOLE TEAM!!!! On the single player version I HAVE ALL THE CONTROL I NEED TO PLAY LIGHT CYCLES!!!
Now...As for a comment that people were going through a wall for a few sections THEN blowing up...(I'm not being rude by not saying who said it, it's just late in the cycles)
In regards the the MP demo, I experienced the same lag/not really absouletely perfect recognition of the crashing (and such) playing MP Armagetron. Maybe some things in MP lightcycles are not perfect, but remember, the computer has to anticipate what is happening (don't quote me) and connect what is happening between multiple computers and bring it all together.
I am grateful DaveTron and the team felt the drive to make multiplayer for Tron 2.0 what it is.
BRAVO!!!!

Aye, I have to agree. After having played the MP demo, the Gold demo, and now, finally, the CGM demo, I have to say that anyone anywhere who has ever played JUST the CGM demo will NOT be playing Tron 2.0 when it first comes out, if ever. If they played the MP demo, they MIGHT play Tron 2.0 when it comes out (but it's doubtful, since most people don't understand what 'beta' means). Of course the Gold version one r0xx0r3d 'n people'll play if they've played that one.
What's the point of releasing a crappy demo on a magazine CD (even if that magazine is carried in very few places)? Better to not hurt the reputation at all, rather than just pump trash out.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

It's called Lead Time. Magazines are prepared over three months in advance. We have a demo on their cover, it's got to be ready three months ahead of the date the magazine hits, hence, older code.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Okay...I hate to quote myself...but my post (save the praise for the TRON team) was in vain...a mistake...today I experienced the same slack controls for lightcycles on the SP demo (from the computer mag) as in the MP demo from the pre-order version...
...and I don't have access to the gold demo...
Sorry, but until I play the gold demo or try the full game, I still believe that LL and RR need to be speeded up.
Excuse me for harping on this.
