Hi discsoftron,
Sorry about that. As soon as I work out how to add an image to my posts I'll put up some WIP pictures. To date, the Discography will have replicas of:
D1. Standered program disc
D2. Sark/Tron's upgraded disc
D3. Jet's disc
D4. Killer app mod disc
D5. Legacy Teaser/Gibson's disc
D6. Quorra's disc (9" hero)
D7. Sam's disc (10" hero)
D8. Kevin's all white disc (10" hero)
D9. CLU's disc
D10. Rinzler's disc
Bonus disc
D11. Abraxas's fractured disc
----------------
All of them are being designed to light up and look like you are on the grid. We have taken pains to make them as accurate as possible to the screen used discs as well and have had much help and references from Disney's prop archive and the designer of the legacy discs to achieve that goal.

Sounds cool! To post a pic, upload via photobucket or a similar site and copy that. Then in a reply here, you have the pic icon next to the world/clipboard icon. You paste into the address bar on tthe pop up window and shazam!

It looks like I'll have to wait to upload pics as I don't gave level 7 clearance yet. If you can't wait, follow the link I put up earlier and register. It's free, and I think you'll be surprised by the amount of Tron related stuff you find there. I will definitely post pics here once I reach level 7 clearance though.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Good cycle program's, ISO's and Users : )
It's been a while since my last post so I thought I'd fill in a few gaps and bring everything up to date.
I was originally going to get the parts machined by an x work collegue, but he let me down at the last minute. After much online searching, I finally found a really good company that could machine the masters needed for disc one. They were really helpfull in choosing the best method and materials to make the masters, and still be viable cost wise.
The parts last week along with the silicone rubber, so I have started on the moulds to make the prototype.
Unfortunately, I still don't have level 7 clearance so I can't link pics yet (I'll get on it), but as soon as I do, I'll post some.

Hi all
As promised, here are a few WIP pics
Here is a breakdown of the build design
Here are the master parts I had made
I'm going to use a combination of water clear resin and roto casting resin for the disc body. Once the mould is complete I intend to paint the unlit bands with the roto casting resin first as it cures white. Before it sets completely I'll put the two mould halves together and pour the clear resin (similar to the encapsulation technique).
The lens will be totaly clear, magnify the light output a bit and will hopefully provide an interesting effect when the disc is moved about almost like they do in the film (similar in effect to the rotoscoping).
It will be lit with an EL disc I had made to fit and will be glued to the inside of the back plate

Good cycle programs and users
Well, its been a few megacycles since my last post, so I calculated it was about time to update the thread.
Overall progress has been a bit slower than I'd like, but there have been many factors that have dictated the progress rate. However, where there has been opportunities to advance the build, I have done so with much enthusiasm.
Here is where I'm at now with the prototype:
...and backlit with the EL panel:
I've decided to change resins due to all those tiny bubbles that appear as it cures. The max work time I have with the current resin is 2.5 mins in cold conditions, just not enough time for anything but mix, and pour.
Unfortunately I don't have a pressure chamber I can stick it in to prevent that from happening, but I found a great resin that should produce much better results, plus the working time is half an hour, plenty for degassing and other techniques for removing bubbles
I have to change silicone mould rubber type as well though as it doesn't like RTV, so addition cure it is.
Here is my current mould set-up, though I'll be making a new one with the new silicone, and incorporating it into a centrifuge rig I'm making for it:
The bands in the current mould are poured by hand first and allowed to go green (a stage before curing fully while the resin is still slightly soft) before pouring in the tinted clear resin to fill the rest of the cavity. The problem with the current method is that its very hard to not overshoot the band edges and messing them up. With the centrifuge system I'm making I'll have total control over the motor speed. My theory is, I can pour the resin carefully at the inside wall of each band at low speed, then ramp it up slowly so the resin is encouraged to meet the outside wall edge, at which point the motor is left at that setting until the resin has gone green, and I can move on to the next one.
The other advantage to a centrifuge is the angle at which the bands are around the rim of the disc wont be a problem, plus I'm making it so the whole thing can be tilted and set at the correct angle for easy pouring for the more vertical bands.
I'll be moulding the lens for it once the centrifuge is made and the first of the new resin type discs is cast, but that's as far as I'll be able to go until my 3D designer is free from more pressing issues. The back of the disc is still WIP and hasn't been machined yet as we changed the design so a costume holder could be incorporated into it.
It will also have a simple circuit embedded in it so the power sources is automatically switched from the disc to the costume holder to increase its total "on" time.
Well that concludes the update for now, any questions, comments, suggestions are welcome.
End of line.....

Thanks a lot buddy, it's been a steep learning curve as I've never used any of the materials in question before attempting this.
If I can make the banding nice and crisp every time, and it cures without all those little bubbles, I'll offer a few for sale once it's all ready, and then I make a start on Sarks disc.
