Confession....I've never been to any Comic-con or Scifi-con nor have I ever made a huge effort to procure autographs or meet celebrities. Until today, that is.
In 1982, I was 7-years old and saw Tron in the theater. It blew my mind and introduced me to what I still consider to be the coolest sci-fi environment ever created. Yori, played by Cindy Morgan, became my first major film actress crush. Never did I think I would ever meet her or tell her what an impact this film (and her) had on me as a young boy.
Fast forward to today and the Dallas Scifi Convention. Both Cindy Morgan and Bruce Boxleitner were in attendance. They hosted a Q&A and signed autographs. Due to family / other responsibilities, I barely made it in time for the Q&A but got there in time. I have to say that I expected both of them to be nice / cordial to fans however I was blown away at just how accessible / friendly / selfless they were. For example, the Q&A began and Bruce noticed some people in the back straining their necks to see the stage so he took it upon himself (& Cindy went right along) to stand for almost the entire Q&A so that everyone could see them. Seriously, they were really down to earth, super cool....no pretension whatsoever, just appreciation for the fans. It seems they are friends in real life and it showed on stage....lots of cute banter back and forth, they seem to have fun w/ all of it.
I originally had no intention of seeking Bruce's signature prior to seeing the Q&A however after seeing just how much they each cared I felt I would be mad at myself it I didn't get the signatures of both the stars of a movie that meant so much to me. So, I went down to the autograph booth and waited....eventually getting to meet Cindy first. She was so nice and took the time to talk to me. I told her the story of my childhood crush and she was so cool about it. Then, I spoke to Bruce (whose booth was beside hers). He, again, was so cool and unpretentious. How awesome is it to meet your childhood icons and they surpass every expectation?
Anyway, just had to share this w/ the Tron Sector crew.

Both of them are wonderful to their fans. I can't wait to see them at Phoenix comic-con in May. Anyone else planning to go to that?

This is one thing I liked about Bruce Boxleitner when he was signing copies of his book, he wasn't charging for the signing at all. You just needed to buy the book or a photo if you wanted that signed, but he was happy to sign anything you brought along with you.

@BanditTron - wish I would have seen you in your gear! I gather from your posts that you live in Louisiana, I was born and raised in Shreveport and moved to Dallas a few years ago. Thanks for sharing the Nerd Show radio spot, wasn't even aware of that show. I'll have to start tuning in. If you are ever in the Dallas area again, check out a good drinking hole "Barcadia"....they have a Tron arcade game (as well as many others) that are playable for a quarter.
Yes, the autographs were $30 which I feel is fair (price includes a very nice photo, a great selection to choose from). I completely recognize that this is a revenue stream for actors and I'm totally cool w/ that. Other stars had higher prices. Regardless of the price, actors don't have to have a conversation w/ you or even have to pretend to enjoy themselves. In the case of Bruce & Cindy, they seemed to enjoy it just as much as the fans. I'll never forget it.

Yes, I was always on the lookout for TRON peeps. Anytime I saw someone with TRON shirts or whatever I would make a comment or start up a convo. It was a great time and made quite a few new friends. A Barcadia just recently opened in New Orleans and they also have a TRON arcade so that is a destination for me one of these days. hahha
Today, I spent most of my day mounting my "TRON Experience", as I call it, from Sci Fi Expo. My Classic Identity Disc (plate) and the Froggy Photo with Cindy and Bruce.
After Bruce signed the disc he made the "Frisbee toss" motion and mouthed a "Whoosh" sound as he pretended he was going to throw it...it was awesome. I asked him if he could do that again and he posed with the Disc even though there were signs up stating: "No posed photos".

That's awesome. They are amazing to their fans. Apparently I made an impression on Bruce at PHXCC2011, because when I saw him and Cindy at the D23 Expo2011, he remembered my name. I went into the photo op booth and he smiled at me and I said "Hi, do you remember me?" and he said "Who could forget you, Robyn?" That alone made that whole trip worthwhile. All the other stuff that happened was just a bonus.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

This is one of the things I like about him, he really doesn't care for the "rules" that the venues force on the fans. When I met him there was a sign saying "No personal items for signatures" hell Bruce was signing everything and anything fans wanted. Even a copy of the Bond Girls book he was reading was bought from him and signed by a fan. He's just a Nice guy.
