Figured I'd start a thread for this, and maybe we can keep it up as a discussion thread for the graphic novel, since it probably doesn't merit its own board or anything.

Reading through this again for a bit of writing, and having to get into it a little more deeply, and some stuff hit me that never did before.

1. In the beginning, Flynn zaps out of the Grid and asks his computer or clock or whatever (which apparently talks and is equipped with voice-recognition software) what the time is. It's just before 8 a.m., it turns out. Then he says "I have the whole day ahead of me."

How does he not know that (or, at the very least, how is he so surprised by it)? He can't have been in there that long (aside from the fact that we know from T:L that the portal just doesn't stay open that long). I doubt he's been in there all night or something; it sounds like Jordan's way more laid-back than she ought to be, but I doubt even she'd tolerate him gone all night. I suppose you could get a bit disoriented switching between worlds, but surely you'd get used to it after a while.


2. Few pages later, he has breezed into Encom and is telling Alan, "You should've seen it. It was amazing." This brings up again the question of "how much has Alan been told?" What's so amazing that he's telling Alan about, if it's not the Grid? Surely Alan's used to hearing about Flynn's harebrained programming ideas, and even if Flynn's excited about something, you wouldn't get THAT excited about just a regular program. Though I guess Alan does just sort of brush him off with a kind of "yes, dear" type of answer, so clearly it can't be much. Also, when he shows up for the sonogram, he launches into an explanation for Jordan why he was late, and it sounds like she should know what he's talking about, like she'd know what project he's working on.


Things noticed:

Jordan has a sonogram in April of '83, in which they find out Sam's a boy. It would seem these sorts of sonograms are done about halfway through the pregnancy, so it's safe to guess Sam's birthday is in August or September or thereabouts?

In the part after the scare with Sam, when Flynn's working and Jordan calls him to refill her hot water bottle, in the part where they show him working and she calls him-- they drew him with the tag of his shirt sticking out. In a later frame when he's shown from the back again-- they made sure to keep the tag sticking out. That's funny.
