Not true. The Mac version from MacPlay works online with the PC version. They're compatible.

You can also get the PC version working on Leopard or later. Even the custom maps and mods will work. This article I wrote describes a couple of ways to get the PC version working on Leopard or later. Read the comments, too.

To answer your question... yes the TRON 2.0 games story is actually better IMO than legacy's was.

2.0 isn't canon with Legacy, Evolution, and Betrayal, since (spoiler, but you probably already knew this) Lara is dead in 2.0's story (before the game starts).

Personally, I think the story in 2.0 is a lot better than the one in Evolution. There's just a lot more character development and it makes you feel like you're actually playing as a character in the story instead of the same mute guy you've played as in every other FPS game ever.

As far as gameplay goes, it's kind of standard FPS fare with some RPG elements (like Fallout 3 perks and leveling up). Any Tron fan or computer nerd should love this game. The game's progression is still completely linear, and not open world like most RPG games today. It's definitely more FPS than RPG.

I haven't played multiplayer in a long time. 2.0 came out in 2003, so it is a bit dated compared to some of today's other multiplayer games. You won't find any XP leveling or unlocks like you get in Call of Duty. This is classic find weapons laying on the ground and get the top score deathmatch. There's also a discs only disc-battle mode with arenas where you have two sides separated by a large gap. Like the ring game in the original Tron film, most floors can be derezzed if hit with your disc. There's also the extremely satisfying feel of annihilating someone by blocking their disc, thus sending it flying right back at them, causing them to explode. There's also an online lightcycles mode, in both free for all and team-based modes.

Yep! I still play. I completely love the game! Have you noticed that Disney seems to leave Tron 2.0 out of their official time-line? I'm guessing this has to do with future plans with Lora and her unfortunate mishap in the Encom laser lab.
