Various Light Cycle Generations Side by Side...

on Wednesday, January, 05, 2011 9:21 PM
I'm not sure if anyone has made this kind of thread, given that the Search function on the site doesn't appear to work at the moment (clicking on the Search button takes me to the main page that displays the various forums).

In any case, the pictures are below... neat to see the various generations all in one picture...

Red and Yellow Light Cycles - Tomy Japan
(Note: The Yellow Tomy cycle was my very first cycle that I got in 1982 at the age of 8... you can see the "battle scars" from constant playing... my favorite toy of all time. )
Blue Light Cycle - NECA China
White Light Cycle - Spinmaster
Green "Laser" Cycle - Toy City knockoff Tron Light Cycle with the black ripcord that is extremely brittle... bought a second Toy City cycle in blue for my daughter and the moment I stuck the black ripcord into the rear wheel opening the ripcord snapped to pieces. Even the Tomy ripcord that came with the red cycle I bought recently was brittle and snapped... is there a way to make the ripcord less likely to break (maybe coating the ripcord in vaseline to make it more flexible?)

Regarding the "red" Tomy cycle here... it seems more orange than red. I actually have a second "red" Tomy cycle and it too looks orange... they should have called it the orange light cycle.

I've never tried to soften the ripcords (To tell you the truth I haven't played with mine in years) so I don't know about putting vaseline on them.

Great pictures! I also had a red light cycle growing up, had the rip cord and it never broke (although I have since lost it.) It's a shame because with the rip cord these things are great on a rubbery floor. They have a real heft to them and fly. Unfortunately I never knew anyone else with another light cycle, it would have been fun to race them.

Still have my red light cycle and one of the 20th anniversary ones in full packaging. Fantastic toy! I also would love to see some pics of the Kubrick light cycle, I'll have to look at some on ebay or something.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online
