Yes, Kosinski confirmed he is not totally dead, just fragmented. One story string to continue in a still possible TRON 3. Just hope he will direct again. Which is not confirmed yet since he will direct The Black Hole in 2012. :S

Was that confirmed? I thought the plan was for him to direct two more Tron sequels if Legacy did well (which it did), and to direct The Black Hole and Oblivion if Legacy bombed.

Look at the "Will Birdges return" topic here. Someone posted a link to an interview in which Kosinski said, Flynn is still on the GRID, just fragmented. As well as TRON.
400m $ was not good for Disney. They expected something like 600-700m since TRON was 3D. The merchandise grossed about 50m and DVD rentals earned 25m in the US, so about 75m world wide. I am not sure how much Disney got from the 600.000 sold soundtracks. So lets say, TRON earned 600m for the company.
So they still hesitate with TR3N until Uprising runs. And while Disney is waiting, Kosinski works on the Black Hole. This I think I read in one of the new-writer-news articles yesterday.
