What exactly is this, like an ambient Halloween haunted house sound effects tape, but with sci-fi instead?

Exactly! It was done in the model of "Chilling, Thrilling sounds of the Haunted House" LP released from Disney in the 60's (rereleased on iTunes). The first side had 5 "Stories in Sound", and the second side was strictly sound effects. A lot of the sound effects were used on The Black Hole. My friends and I used to make our own SciFi tapes with our own dialog, and using the sound effects from the album. They ended up sounding pretty lame, but we were kids.

I so vaguely remember this.
Thanks for posting! I'm pretty sure my neighbor had this. I know they had the halloween record cause they played it every year with their setup
