I've been wondering what this movie is about. So far all I was able to make out was that its something like a monster that's pounding its way out of a train car. I am fairly intrigued. I did enjoy watching Cloverfield. Could this be another monster movie? The name Super 8 has a very Japanese sound to it. Like one of the Ultramen or something to that nature.
I'll keep an eye out for this film.

I wanna know too. They have an ARG for it, but I was too wrapped up in TRON to be bothered with it. All I know is that "Super 8" is the name of a film stock developed by Kodak in the sixties. It was an improvement over regular 8mm film.

I saw the first teaser a few weeks back, and then the Super Bowl spot today on ComicBookMovie.com. I loved Cloverfield, and enjoyed Star Trek, so am very keen to see Super 8.

Yes, Super 8 is a film stock that was introduced in the late 60s, 1965 to be exact. My Dad has a Super8 film camera, and I did some stop-motion claymation experiments back in the late-80s with it. Surprisingly, there still are some film festivals devoted to people who still shoot with Super 8 film. I also suspect the term Super 8 may also turn out to be a double-entendre.
As far as the plot of the film, I'll say this: all the title cards in the trailer really spell the whole thing out, if you know what they're referring to: a story of how, shall we say, "remains" from somewhere out West, were said to have been secretly transported to a certain hangar at Wright-Patterson AFB, in Dayton, OH, some 40-something years ago. I live not too far from Dayton, and have heard that story for years, by many people. Whatever was being transported, is the same thing trying to bust out of that box on the train. Also, I've seen pics where people have paused the quick flashes that occur in the trailer, and it shows some interesting, creepy things. I'm looking forward to it, as I loved, "Cloverfield".
