Over at the Replica Prop Forum (which I am a member of), a user by the name of oujala came up with his own replica of the Tron ID disc that's rather ingenious. For basically $20, he made a somewhat good looking replica (he admits he may have to redo the paint job, but it's pretty cool.
Here's the link to it: http://www.therpf.com/f9/20-original-tron-identity-disc-replica-105344/

To quote one of my instructors at Full Sail: most props are looking at objects that already exist and looking at them in a different way. Even "Tron: Legacy" uses some items that existed, such as a iPhone SIM card holder for the "chip" that Sam uses and the "Bit" pieces in Flynn's hide are actually puzzle boxes (similar to Rubik's cubes).
And when it comes to doing replicas, if you can't find the same items, it's often useful in finding something similar to it and seeing if it can work as a replica.

Pretty cool! I didn't know that Whammo disc existed.
